Edgy stuff. Very original. You come up with that on your own?

You are what I like to refer to, as an overachiever.

I'll be honest, you could almost hear my jaw thud when TFFP brought up Andrade. A fight against Andrade means a long enough delay to get JC out to pasture IMHO. Though to be honest, he could be following Waren's lead on that line. But honestly, who pressures and backs up Pavlik at 160? If Kelly doesn't fight Joe next, then he stays at 160 and does his next mandatory. I could hear the door swining shut with that excuse.

Just read in another thread that Calzaghe stated in his auto biography he would never fight Jones because of his losses, and he now has one more than when the book was written. I think Joe has just painted himself into a corner.

Arum is convinced, the rest of boxing, not so much......

http://www.vindy.com/news/2008/jun/09/pavlik8217s-next-fight/

“My first priority is Joe Calzaghe,” Top Rank chairman Bob Arum said.
“That’s a huge fight. I am very optimistic this fight can happen.
“Joe Calzaghe has never ducked anybody.”

If it happens — and most boxing observers are less optimistic than Arum — it would be on Oct. 18 in Las Vegas, most likely at super middleweight.

Great potential fight that I hope gets made before JC gets any older. I still think JC has too much for Pavlik at this stage and from the Lacy and Kessler fights would think people would have learned a couple of things.

One being that JC is not Gary Lockett, the other being how well he has handled limited fighters. Pavlik is like Kessler in a sense, good defense, great power, textbook 1-2's and tough. I think he's too limited to win, if anything the Kessler fight should have shown people is that you cant beat fighters like that by doing the same thing over and over, no matter how good you are at it. Calzaghe's biggest strength is taking away his opponents best weapon and making them fight their plan B, or even C if there is one.

As for the who's ducking who... what the ****, give them a chance to sort something out first. They both said they want to fight each other, I dont know if that's a call out, as pretty much every boxer will mention a list of names they would like after winning a fight.

...I also think stylewise that Jones poses more of a problem with his speed, power, timing and elusiveness than Pavlik.

Yes, saying you want to fight someone is a challange to the other fighter. A 'call out'. Joe and Kelly aren't trash talkers so they are pretty tame and civilized calls, but that is what they are. Both earn much respect if they make this fight happen.

very true, although if anything is certain it is that despite what Warren said it will be him who ultimately decides if this happens or not. He'll be the one sorting out monetary issues, like who gets what. Ring size, gloves, location, weight. There's a lot of things to agree or compromise on before this happens, but I expect the usual A ducked B comments if it doesn't for whatever reason.

Personally I think Calzaghe will take the fight as he did Lacy and Kessler. Both were touted to either beat him easily or give him fits, but he made them both look very ordinary. I really like Pavlik, but I think his oppostion has been fairly limited upto now, Taylor easily being the best on his resume... then again, Taylor's berrated on here daily as being over rated and a bum and Miranda is for all intents and purposes a crude slugger with power, heart, decent chin and sub par boxing fundementals. Basically, Pavlik hasn't fought any P4P or even slick boxers yet. Taylor is speedy, athletic, BUT, he's a total moron who cant box to a simple plan and if people can look beyond the result from their second fight they will see that when Taylor boxed he'd win the round. He didn't have the stamina to pull off the UD, but he's set the plan and Calzaghe boxes better to a plan, can adjust and does all the same things Taylor can do only better. Hope it happens, I have Calzaghe by clear UD after taking a couple of scary shots that look to stun him.

I don't know if Pavlik has ever let a stunned fighter survive. ;)

I doubt this fight will happen anytime soon if at all. . . Cal has RJJ in the works and Pav has yet to fight at 168. .. while it doesnt look like Cal will ever fight at 168 again.

Pavlik is the most meaningful fight for Joe right now and I dont believe that Calzaghe is going to duck the event. Have respect for both men and this type of Superfight is good for the sport, fighters, and fans.
Not often does one have the chance to be the best fighter from 160-175 in todays world. Thats a rare and significant accomplishment.

Warren? A notorious pain the ass 2 negoitiate with but if Joe really wants it? I believe it will work out:happy

Serpent, don't know where you've been but Joe was looking to fight Jermain Taylor, Pavlik won and before he'd even made the short trip home it was all over the place that Joe was calling out Pavlik. Joe had even said many times that Pavlik was the only fighter he'd return to 168 to fight. He called out Kelly many times, until after the B-Hop fight when he was asked by Max point blank two options: Pavlik or Jones? Joe didn't even say Pavlik's name then.

I will go one better let Lockette face Andrade and we will see who is who. Why waste Pavlik again. Andrade will gladly go to Wales and fight lockette Im sure. Then if Andrade displays anything close to the crushing victory that Pavlik did you have a case. Then you can truly measure the significance of the Danish Pastrys victory over same.
