According to a report posted a few hours ago Joe Calzaghe says he wants to fight Roy Jones and then retire. Looks like the 7 months he spent calling out Pavlik was just talk as I suspected all along. http://blogs.theledger.com/default.asp?item=2195809
Either way if you were serious I would NEVEr stop flicking you **** about it. Since you're were kidding, I willing officially apologize for already flicking the afore mentioned ****:nut
More money for a Jones fight and he deserves it. Pavlik should fight Kessler or someone to test at 168 anyway.
This is way off topic, but I once saw Micheal Spinks lift a guys feet a good 4" off the canvass with an uppercut!
Yep. And as a 36 - 37 year old fighter who depends on speed and agility, strengths that nosedive post-30 years old, you can't blame him. As for the Spinks comparison, I've said for months that I don't think Calzaghe is a big enough guy physically to really compete at that weight. A totally weight-starched Spinks at 168 might have been another story though.
The guy can say what he wants. He makes more of a ass of himself with his sissy punching technique, don't you think?
I just think joe should have thought more about what he was saying. First he challenged Pavlik after the first Taylor fight, and then, before any other fights were made, he made a fight with BHop. Between the first Pavlik/Taylor fight and Calzaghe/Hopkins joe called Kelly out a dozen times. Calzaghe put in a **** poor performance against Hopkins, and then suddenly wants to fight Jones and retire. If Joe really wanted to fight Pavlik he could easily wait until after Abraham/Miranda before announcing any plans. If Miranda wins, it may be pretty easy for Joe to entice Kelly to move up. As it stands he has announced his plans to the world because, after all, he's a "legend killer."
Bhop showed him that he hasn't been fighting the elite. Bhop might not have taken his OH, but he took his confidence. :yep
