Of course Pavlik is no more compelled to move up a division to try to challenge Calzaghe than Calzaghe should have felt compelled to move up a division to try to challenge Roy Jones.

There are a couple of factors arguing more in favour of him doing so though: firstly the division that he is in is considerably weaker than the SMW division that Calzaghe was in, and secondly, it's quite possible that Calzaghe would be amenable to a fight whereas Jones did not want to fight Calzaghe at that time. One factor argues in favour of him not doing so which is that he is likely to be able to secure a unification fight a lot quicker than Calzaghe did.

IMO he should forget mandatories against the likes of Lockett and Rubio and try to fight Abraham as soon as possible before moving to SMW. Abraham is the only thing approaching a decent scalp for him at 160.

7 years to get that title and 168 is way over rated. Mundine is moving down. One of the named the 168 crowd has thrown at us FOREVER saying Pavlik could not carry his jock strap. Yet when he is mandated to fight Kessler, runs scared to a division that Kelly has cleaned out the top competition in and sent to 168. And Kessler won't even fight Kelly's former conquests.

I was wanting to see Calzaghe-Dawson, Calzaghe-Tarver or something like that.
