Did not happen. Ive watched the fight again, and he gets hit, stunned, tries to act not hurt by sticking his tongue out, not dropping his hands, then proceeds to get whacked again and go down. He didnt get cocky, he just plain got dropped and nearly stopped. Give Taylor some credit, it was his work not Pavliks cockiness that hurt hiim.:fire

Pavlik definitley kept his left hand low up to that point that helped Taylor get the knockdown.
Perhaps not out of arrogance simply due to a boxing bad habit.

Thats reasonable, its the people who act like the only way Taylor can hurt Pavlik is if he drops his hands to his waist.:good

yeah it was a combination of both fighters and not just pavlik dropping his hands. but i must say my dad was saying as taylor started his assualt that pavlik wasn't holding his hands up after we witnessed the first couple hits. this was in real time too and not the replay etc.

taylor was very fast and totally committed to his punches which affected pavlik, but we also noticed that after the first volley, pavlik seemed to put his hands down around his waist almost and go to say something or stick his tongue out. i don't think taylor made pavlik drop his hands by buzzing him that bad. i just think taylor surprised pavlik with some excellent power combos, then pavlik being stunned decided to be a smart ass which lead to further punishment. and like all fighters no matter how hard their chin, accumilation catches up with the best of them.

i think in the rematch taylor will try to box his way to a UD to conserve stamina for all 12 rounds. while pavlik will have a might higher and tighter guard at all times. he might still try to rile taylor up with his beckoning and taunts but he wont take a bunch of punches and act macho by dropping his guard.

but yes... taylor definately ambushed him with his talent and fury. but pavlik also helped taylor in the follow up volley which ended up putting him down.

And what did all this do??? Wake up a monster...Next fight is over before the last and will be an even more devastating KO.. Taylor's is through mates...Wow great Taylor just had a baby and thinks of boxing differently now..big deal..Will he put his left hand up?? NO. This equals Taylor recieving the whiplash treatment and his face being playdohfied...again. Cheers

I call bull****. I've watched this fight numerous times and yes, KP got hit with a clean left and right that stunned him. Then he dropped his hands, stuck out his tongue. He then covered up, JT kept throwing, threw an elbow, KP stuck out his chin and got caught clean. That's when he went down. If KP doesn't do that, it is likely he doesn't go down.

Wrong about the moment when he stuck out his tongue. He did that after catching JT with a good shot, maybe even in round one, I forget. After that (round 2) was when Taylor caught him with a solid left that I believe started the whole mess that caused him to slump to the canvas. Looks like he did drop his hands & was gonna say something when he got nailed a few more times & down he went.

Won't happen next time. KP will be very serious & again KO a very cautious Taylor who will try to box.

Time to rewatch the fight again to refresh my memory.

Pavlik to me is like Ricky Hatton. A tough guy that wins on heart and gut. Taylor should beat him everytime, but Taylor doesnt have the proper condition to compete on the world class level. Sure he can compete with an old Hopkins and Winky Wright, who fight at slower paces, but the stronger younger fighters are going to give him trouble if he doesnt get into shape. Hes got to get into better shape to beat Pavlik, because Pavlik's heart and strong will make up for his lack of technical skills. Taylor just needs to box and stay under control and fight a little in spots, and he can win an easy 12 round fight.

Good points. Taylor needs to relax and not fight so tense as well.

His hands were a little low but he definately was not pulling some Nate Campell bull****. Taylor cought him with a nice right hand and then he drops his hands from being stunned.
