Kelly Pavlik suffered a bruised elbow during a recent sparring session but his fight against Bernard Hopkins on Oct. 18 will likely go on as scheduled.

Kelly Pavlik is one tough hombre. But even the middleweight champion had to let out a yelp when trainer Jack Loew put a synthetic sleeve on the fighter's left elbow.

After clanging elbows against sparring partner Byron Mitchell 10 days ago, Pavlik has been dealing with the injury that could require an injection. He was still able to go through a workout last week, but he did take a few days off from sparring.
There is concern from Team Pavlik as the fighter's Oct. 18 date against Bernard Hopkins in Atlantic City, N.J., closes in, but the bout is not in jeopardy, according to Loew.
"No, not at all," Loew said. "It's a bruise and there is nothing you can do."

Pavlik was able to throw all his punches during the workout and it did not appear to affect his jab. He called the injury "bothersome."
Loew has closed his Southside Boxing Club this week to outsiders as they put the finishing touches on training camp. Hopkins is doing likewise in Miami, where he has trained since 2001.

HBO will begin airing a 30-minute "Countdown to Pavlik-Hopkins" preview, with the first showing at midnight Saturday. The bout will be shown on HBO PPV for $49.95

Pavlik will lose agaisnt Hopkins & his camp know's it.
(Let the excuse Train express, begin.....)

a 60% Hopkins is enough to win Vs. Pavlik, IMO.
(Or whatever is left of him..)

Well, it's not enough, Hopkins is only half of himself since a couple of years.

I wouldn't sleep on BHop for this fight.

If you're giving Hopkins no chance to win - then something must be wrong with you. Remember - not many of us gave him a chance against Tito and we see what happened. Plus - I've never saw Hopkins beat up - why doesn't that change now?

    A bruised elbow?

Is he practicing taking on Hopkins at his own game?

Next thing we'll hear he's got a badly dented forehead from the headbutt sparring and sore knees from continuously throwing himself to the floor.
