:good Exactly how I see it, except maybe the AA part, although Williams has a good shot against AA. Pavlik and Williams are similar, but I don't think Pavlik would have such a hard time with Williams as some may think. Williams doesn't throw incredibly straight punches, which Pavlik can't seem to get out of the way of.
Yeah, Taylor hurt Pavlik from throwing at angles Kelly didn't expect... and those kind of punches are Williams' bread and butter. If Pavlik gets a better finishing trainer, that'd help a lot - his trainer hasn't even evolved him beyond how he fought in his pro debut! That's just plain criminal.
I disagree. Paul is vulnerable. He is off balanced often and I thought that would lead to a knockdown early in the wright fight.
:good I think this would be a very exciting fight, but it plays right into Pavlik's hands. Both fighters bring action, but Pavlik's an expert in leaving people who come at him in a pile of bones. It's going to be a fight with a lot of trading, and I think Pavlik will be able to take more and give more punishment. Pavlik's strategy will be the same as always: back him up and wear him down. Williams can't afford to get trapped on the ropes and just move back when Pavlik come forward; so he's going to have to engage with him in the middle of the ring. Pavlik would be able to land even easier than he did against JT. Constant jabbing, powerful right hands, body shots: they'll all stack up, and I think Williams will eventually capitulate. Pavlik will take a lot of stick as well, but I think he's got a good enough chin and enough strength to come out the better man. Pavlik KO Williams 10.
This site goes ****ing mental after someone wins. Paul Williams beats a retired Winky and now he can beat Pavlik? Pavlik KO's him inside 8
How many guys could take Pavlik's accumulation punching power? Do you know his KO ratio? He has more chances against AA, but: Paul hasn't dealt with a guy who can hide in his shell like Wright, but also has the most power in both of his hands p4p. Williams would beat AA by UD, but he would've to surrender 12 rounds against a guy who can end a fight with one single punch (or at least hurt his opponent bad enough to finish him off easily). And make no mistake, you won't see AA in bad shape against the top guys. All in all Williams would've his chances against both Pav and AA, but I don't see him winning.
Ive always thought Williams would give Pavlik trouble, and I have rated Williams for a while now. He is very underated. Pavlik has trouble with slick movers that dont sit in front of him and trade. Williams is all wrong for pavlik because he would get off a combo and then bob and weave his way out before Pavlik could set and counter, rinse and repeat all night long. The only reason Pavlik was able to beat JT is because JT thought he could go toe to toe with him and he stood in the pocket and let Pavlik get set. AA is a diff story. He has the best chance of beating PW and his style is a bad one for PW. PW gets tagged sometimes when he finishes his combos while pulling out. With AA's power, he would only have to tag him once or twice to turn the fight. Interesting matchup.
