Heres the latest hometown news of the fight and pavliks remarks about taylor.

YOUNGSTOWN — The only time that Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik of Youngstown fought Jermain Taylor of Little Rock, Ark., was in 2000 at the U.S. Olympic Boxing Trials when Pavlik was 17 and Taylor 21.
    Pavlik lost by a decision.

The world will get the official word Tuesday during a press conference in New York City, when Pavlik, his father and Loew join all of the key parties in both boxing camps officially to announce the fight.

"[Pavlik and Taylor] signed a preliminary contract that they have to fight," announced Loew. "Neither can back out of the fight. They just have to work out the details, such as money and rematch conditions. The details should be worked out in a week or two."
Pavlik and his father said ironing out the details, including what both boxers' purses will be and rematch and other details, is the usual procedure in boxing.
But Loew emphasized that the fight "is a done deal" and that "posters and tickets are being printed." Pavlik's Web site (

) and the Internet also have announced the fight.
Loew is hoping that area fans will make the trip to Atlantic City to see the fight.
"Tickets will be made available in the area. We would like a big contingent of fans from Youngstown going to the fight and sitting together," said Loew.
Kelly's brother, Michael Pavlik Jr., who handles the Team Pavlik public relations, said tickets will be available and sales outlets announced within a week.
Kelly is glad that his big moment to fight Taylor finally is approaching, and he is confident and plans to be ready for him.
"I will be starting training camp in a couple of weeks. It is definitely a relief [that the fight is set]. I've wanted to fight him for four or five years," said Pavlik, who is coming off a seventh-round knockout of Edison Miranda May 19.
Pavlik will have a 2-inch height advantage over Taylor (6-2 to 6-0), but their reaches are about the same.
Taylor's last fight was May 19 when he registered a split decision over Cory Spinks. Taylor won the WBC title July 16, 2005.

"A lot of fighters come out and get hit and start to get on a bike [to back-pedal away]. [Taylor] can still fight, but if I can back him up I can take the fight to him," said Pavlik. "If I can back him up in a corner, he has no choice but to fight."
Pavlik said that recalling his lone meeting with Taylor in 2000 gives him confidence.
"He never had anything that hurt me. No power. I'm grown now, not 17. I have experience and we are not fighting with head gears. That gives me confidence."
Pavlik also thinks that Taylor lacks confidence because of the way he acted during a recent interview and his trash talk. Kelly saw a video of Taylor's interview, and was appalled.
"I actually was hoping that he would talk trash because that would show that he had no self-confidence. I didn't understand a word that came out of his mouth," said Pavlik, who has seen all of Taylor's recent bouts on video and hasn't been impressed. "[His] last five fights were sleepers and could have gone either way."
Seeing the videos didn't help Pavlik too much. "There is not too much I can learn from them. He fought smaller guys."
Loew also doesn't think too much of Taylor.
"I'm not impressed by Taylor. Taylor hasn't gotten any better [since 2000]. He just happened to get the [championship] break before Kelly. [Promoter Lou] DiBella got him the opportunity," said Loew, noting that Taylor's opponents were shorter and not that good.
"Taylor could have had better opponents in his last few bouts. Shame on his manager for setting up mediocre opponents. He hasn't changed much since 2000. He just got an early [championship] opportunity."

We would like evreyone in the Youngstown area to buy there tickets locally if possible (outlets will be available soon). That way we guarantee Kelly is well represented! Kelly will also be Ohio State and coach Jim Tressell's honored guest @ the Ohio State-Youngstown State football game Sept. 1 in Columbus, OH.
