Seriously! Just check Pavlik's Bio on hbo.com/boxing Click on fighters, then click on Kelly..... It's disgraceful. They have his record right, but check out how much they "inform" a potential fan who would read that.
It might've been more in reference to Pavlik's crew saying no more weight jumping and of course, you got to deal with Arum consistently to work in the tournament. Ya know maybe Arum made a bad play on this one...as soon as the rumors of the SMW tournament started filtering about, I would've used that to my advantage. I would've teased getting Pavlik involved in it and tried to force HBO to up their offer on Sturm/Pavlik. Might not have worked but it's well worth a shot.
Pavlik has himself to blame, he took Hopkins, got beaten and has since not fought a single live fight.
In as much as it would be the last fight mentioned and the one I though least likely, it is probably a lock. Seems to be the way Arum works with Pavlik some times.
OK, but did you read the article? It's basically his bio but doesn't include anything from Taylor I forward. It says he's a good contender (right now, to a "new fan" that might read that for educational reasons). That's all I'm sayin' is BULL. They have his current record right, but his bio is OUT DATED ridiculous.:yep
Right, but why would they spend time and money rewording the stuff in there when he's not fighting big fights?
Well damn buddy, what I'm sayin is it doesn't say he fought Jermain Taylor! Not to mention the second time! And a fight with Bernard Hopkins is pretty big, even if it just said he got his ass whooped atleast they said something. I mean, how hard is it to update a damn resume on a computer?? We're not talkin' bout spendin' millions for some overhaul.
He wants big fights, no doubt about that. He has a limited time to cash in because of his age. Taylor didn't bring the money he had hoped for because of the fight not being picked up live in England. If Pavlik brings a guaranteed big pay day, he may take it. In spite of what he says in public, he may know his limitations. He knows he was close to losing to Taylor. Take the bird in the hand.....
Good point. After Showtime aired Froch/Taylor. OUCH! And puts a pin into that balloon. Hell, that is more like a coffin nail if Froch pulls out. Get Balzay to replace him? Nice little insight there. :good
Probably Why he didn't give it a shot, I don't know. We've seen worse bluffs from TR...for instance "The Mora fight will be on PPV if HBO doesn't pick it up."
One of the easier options would be to push back the Froch/Dirrell fight and wait for the winner of Andrade vs Bute to step into Froch's place.
