Im am going out on a limb here but this fight is going to mirror Trinidad Hopkins ..Hopkins no diffrent than in the Trinidad fight is an underdog ,I know people will bring up age but my rebuttle is exprience ..And I know Pavlik is not Tito but he doesn't have more speed than Tito .. If people are banking on Pavlik's jab rewatch the Winky fight and watch how Hopkins took away Winky's most effective punch ..Better yet people banked on Taylor's jab in their fight he took that weaopn away as well. Pavlik is going to be extremely frustrated when he can't catch Hopkins flush . If im wrong then cudos to Pavlik for continuing to step up..And he will be a step closer to cementing his legacy ...And on a side note apparantly Pavlik has taken over as the man in Ac over Gatti does anyone agree with that ??
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm not surprised that quite a few people are picking BHop to win. Pavlik has accumulated quite a number of haters and critics. Many people just can't wait to see him lose. Moreover, the Calzaghe fans need BHop to look good. If Pavlik takes Hopkins out, or scores a clear UD, many would interpret that as meaning that Pavlik is as good as, or better than, Joe. Let me explode a few myths here: Myth number 1: Pavlik is one dimensional. He had an amature record of 89-8, but was not a big puncher until about the time he turned 17. As a pro he beat Miranda by being a better bully than Miranda. He beat McKart by boxing smartly from the outside. He beat Zuniga by winning a war mostly fought on the inside. He beat Taylor the first time mostly by captilizing on Taylor's flaws. If that's one-dimensional, it's okay by me. Myth number 2: Pavlik has no plan B. The second Taylor fight was arguably the best performance of Jermains career. Pavlik injured BOTH hands. The injuries cut down his work rate, and took away his best weapons. He could not use the usual power jabs, and had to conserve the right hand. He still boxed his way to a clear UD. Myth number 3: Pavlik just plods forward. People who say that are either haters, or they just don't know much about boxing. Pavlik's footwork is one of the most under-rated facets of his game. He inches forward carefully behind a very good jab, 1-2 combos, and lead rights. He also cuts off the ring extemely well. I would challenge anyone to name a single instance when Pavlik got himself in trouble by "plodding forward." Myth number 4: Pavlik has a questionable chin. Zuniga has 2 losses on his record. One to Santos, and one to Pavlik. He also has an 80% KO ratio. Pavlik took zuniga's best shots, and stopped Zuniga in 9 rounds. Pavlik ate Miranda's best shots like they were Skittles. Kelly took 15 unanswered shots from Taylor, and stopped JT in seven. All the quetsions about Pavlik's chin have been answered. BHop is a tough night for anyone, but mark my words, Pavlik will beat him by a clear UD or a late TKO. He'll do a good job of staying out of range, and that will take away Bernard's favorite weapons; the clinch, the head butt, and the counter right. Hopkins will start gassing out by mid rounds, by round 9 or 10 Pavlik will move in for the kill, and bounce Hopkins around the ring like a little kid bounces one of those red rubber balls around a play ground.
I hope to revist these so called myth once Hopkins schools him ..For all the opponents you mentioned not once did u mention the following : None of them have the defense of a Bernard Hopkins not a single one . His most notable wins McKart (Long past his best since his trilogies with Wright at 154 ).Miranda ,Taylor and Lockett are all fighters with supect defense and maybe quetionable chins ..With Hopkins that is not the case .. I don't exepct either fighter to get KO'ed ..Because one Pavlik won't catch Hopkins like he did Taylor and 2 I don't see Hopkins Ko ing Pavlik since he himself is not a knock out type of fighter and Pavlik has a solid chin ..Now onto the fight itself : What is going to happen when Kelly can't find Hopkins at the end of his punches ? His power comes at the end of his punches Hopkins is either going to be in his chest or circle around his power .. Unless he has the hand speed of a Taylor or Calzaghe I don't see how he is going to out work Hopkins with Plodding and yes he plods ..He was coming forward inch by inch when JT caught him and nearly end the fight in their first encounter ..So I wonder how is it that you missed all of these things when discussing Pavlik ? Im no hater I love the kid im just a realist who beleives in experience .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0YCdjomoqQ
Bernards defense isn't what it once was. And as stamina goes so does defense, to some extent. Also Hopkins has a great chin, but it's not made of steel and to this point it has been somewhat hidden by his seemingly flawless defense that is now on the slide. And Calzaghe never fought anybody with the defense of Hopkins either, but ended up landing on him more then a prime Jones did........
It isn't what it once was ? His face after the Calzaghe fight looked like he wasn't even in a fight ? Those punch stat numbers may have been gossley exagerrated considering many of those so called shots never landed flush but yet his defense is not what it once was ? But then again Pavlik doesn't have Joe's hand speed so im not worried about him cathing Hopkins like Joe did ..
First off I did not mention Lockett. That fight was BULL****. McKart has a quetionable chin???atsch He had never been stopped in 54 fights until Pavlik stopped. Past his best; absolutely. Shot; no. His last fight was a draw with Marquez who just derailed the Lorenzo hype train. Zuniga has a questionable chin: I'm speechless. In the first Taylor fight it was sticking his ****ing chin out like a jack ass that got him in trouble. Are you still in denial over that? Go watch the tape. Handspeed: Have you noticed that Pavlik's opponents, the people who actually know by the way, only say he's slow BEFORE the fight. Afterward they say things like; "He's a lot faster than I thought," and "I just couldn't see the punches coming." Go tell JT that Pavlik is slow. I used the examples I used because they are fighters who have very different styles from one another. Hopkins, a 43 year old career middleweight, is just one more guy with a different style. I realize that you are a both a Hopkins and a Calzaghe fan, and just too damn proud and stubborn to admit that your boys are gonna get sparked. Try to relax. Both men had a great careers. It is a great honor for Team Pavlik to have such notable fighters pass the torch to Kelly.
I never said McKart had a questionable chin but defense yes and by the time Kelly fought him he was waaaaay past his best you even have to admit that ..He hasn't been worth mentioning since his fights with Wright but you act is if he is something worth mentioning now ..And with regards to that Taylor remark I included the video and he was inching forward just like you stated before Taylor nailed him I think u my friend should go re watch that tape ..Its clear your in full denial ! Miranda saying someone is fast is that really credible ? And Taylor well whats he going to say he got beat up in a corner !If you think Kelly has fast hands then you must also think a turtle can keep up with a cheetah in a foot race .. I am not too dam stubborn I call them like I see it no diffrent then when Pavlik first fought Miranda go look it up (and im even Colombian )I picked Pavlik when the rest of the boxing world picked Edison ..I also said Pavlik by KO because Edison swings to wildley ..And if Hopkins does manged to get ktfo then im the one that looks like the fool ..And if he does do that I wil go as far as admitting that he will KO Calzaghe as well but from what I seen so far I don't see how he will beat Hopkins or even KO him ..That of course all chagnges if somehow Hopkins does actually show his age but up to this point he has not, only the real haters think so ..
:rofl I wouldn't call those wins beatings but he did best him twice ..And that doesn't neccessarily equate to truth .Styles make fights .
Goodnight Bernard. After he wakes up from his beating he will start whining and complaining about the judges or the lighting or the material that the ropes were made out of or his gloves were strapped on too tight or ------u get the picture.
