Pavlik seems like a decent fellow, but I honestly believe that he does not want to fight anymore.

OK, after reading your other post later in the thread saying a poster was posting inane nonsense like other "substandard posters" I took time out and noticed you omitted a few things from Hausser's article...

“Rubio gets hit an awful lot,” Loew said....Rubio emerged with a split-decision triumph over Ornelas. “That’s your mandatory,” Loew told Kelly with a smile.(I'm only putting this in simply to hold in check anybody who tries to make Rubio better than he is, which has sadly happened.)

"Pavlik’s size and strength are usually his biggest edge. Against Hopkins, he would be forfeiting that advantage. A crucial element of Kelly’s fight plan would be to wear down Bernard with constant pressure. But in boxing, it’s hard to wear down a significantly bigger foe."

"And more significantly, Hopkins would be the smartest, most skilled opponent that Pavlik had faced. “You know how I fight,” Kelly had told fans at an August 27th “pep rally” in Youngstown. “You know my style. Nothing’s gonna change.”

That was the problem. Hopkins knew exactly how Kelly fights. “This kid is so fundamental,” Bernard told Naazim Richardson at the start of training camp. “If I can’t beat him, I should retire

And Hopkins added, “Kelly Pavlik wants to knock Bernard Hopkins out. At least that’s what he says. But I got the book on Pavlik. Comes straight forward. Jab. Good right hand. Determined. Lots of heart. Slow. Not a skilled boxer.

"The first two rounds set the pattern for the fight. Hopkins was faster. He moved in and out at will. Working off the absence of a left hook in Pavlik’s arsenal, he circled to the right to avoid Kelly’s right hand. Kelly’s jab wasn’t landing, which made his right hand even more ineffectual."

"Hopkins was in control from beginning to end. He found the holes in Kelly’s defense and exploited them with sharp precision punching. He was too big and too good. He outboxed Pavlik and he outfought him. He asked questions all night long and Kelly had no answers."

“You didn’t lose this fight,” Mike Pavlik told his son. “The loss was my fault. I should have pulled it when you got bronchitis.”
    Kelly shrugged. “I lost it.”

So, I read the article for you, and it was really well written. But let's not act like Hausser was completely blaming Pavlik getting run down was simply because of illness. If they fought again (which they won't) Pavlik would do better but unless Hopkins was nearly done I don't see Pavlik winning. Does that make him a bad fighter? No. But Hopkins is the wrong match for Kelly's style.

I forgot to mention that I think that the "Pavlik that Hopkins beat" easily beats Bronco and beats Zuniga.

The sad thing is Bhop didn't out muscle or push Pavlik around like most Pavlik fans wanna say!!! Bhop just is a better over all boxer/athlete and destroyed Pavlik!!

Pavlik is a good at being basic and thats what his problem is just being a basic fundamental fighter will only work when you are going toe to toe with someone infront of you all night!!!

Kelly Pavlik's style would never match up well against a boxer with good movement!!!

I hope there is a rematch. If he is healthier and has more snap on punches I think he can change B Hop. B Hop does not like to get hit calzaghe fight proved that he looked like a little *****.

Bottom line is that Hopkins has nothing left to gain in a rematch. Not happening. A man his age isn't going to rematch someone he dominated in every manner. Literally the only thing Hopkins didn't outdo Pavlik in during the fight was being taller.

NBA, you mean..... you're not a Pav freak? After you became a Cotto nuthugger, I figured Pavlik was the logical next step.

    :lol::lol::lol::lol:

There will never be a rematch. Why would Hopkins rematch guy who he totally dominated
Isn’t Pavlik nowadays more concerned to fighting against Rubios of the world anyway?

He's saying what all boxers would say. If a fighter has any courage they will SAY they want a rematch even if they dont think they can win. He flattened JT in the first fight and JT jumped to a rematch. Its what fighters do.

I dunno if Pavlik really wants to fight BHop again, but from BHop's perspective, it would be another good pay day, so why not?

I reckon if Pavlik manages to beat Martinez and Paul Williams(tall order I know), enough of the public would buy into the Pavlik was sick story, to make a BHop rematch viable on PPV.

But would Pavlik want to take the fight?

dont bother if it werent for Boo, nobody here would know who mccart or zuniga were nor give a ****, but yet boo somehow managed to give these guys notoriety here. All he does is just root for Pavlik and Pavlik's leftovers to make Pavlik look good.
