Hopkins won the first time by controlling the fight easily. Nothing would change unless Hopkins got old fast, and that is possible.

anyone can say they want a re-match with the person they lost to.. but does that mean they will actually persue it??.. that remains to be seen...

No. If you make statements like that you are so ignorant of Hopkins that you shouldn't even be talking about him.

On the basis that he's just signed to fight Martinez and would consider a Hopkins rematch (not that it would ever come off)?

So "hesitant" that he signed to fight him.

It's a hell of a better fight than this farce against the rigor mortis-afflicted cadaver of Roy Jones.

While I agree people give Kelly too hard a time for being sick after the Hopkins fight, I have no sympathy for him regarding his loss.

He was arrogant enough, or money hungry enough, to think he could beat Hopkins even ill. The smart tack would have been to postpone. He clearly felt he was well enough to beat the old *******.

You can't use it as an excuse for him when he chooses to step in the ring. Same as when I hear: "Camp didn't go to plan, but this time we're taking no chances."

These are professional athletes. If they don't heed their body's requirements they get what they deserve.

BTW, well done for reading the article. I read all of Hauser's stuff and, though he's obviously big on pavlik, he recognises that Pavlik wasn't in Hopkins league. He points out that coming with anything less than your A-game against a tough, experience and sublimely schooled boxer will see you get your ass kicked. Pavlik, even on his A-game would have struggled with Hopkins.

That sounds like hating, but it's a fair point to an extent. Calzaghe or no Calzaghe, KP should never have gone up there, and he DID underestimate B-Hop.

How many fighters are there at 160 that are better than Martinez? Who should he be fighting?

    Inconsistencies are ridiculous.
