Pavlik-hopkins Titles?

He could have fought Winky instead. Lets not make a 43yr old fighter out to the best the sport has to offer. Allan Green he could have fought. any one but a 43 yr way past it fighter. On ppv to boot.:-(

 

I don't get it, you barely have to keep up with boxing to know that Winky priced himself out. Also Bernard recently beat Winky and is a bigger name.

 

Winkey Offered to fight Pavilik in his home town giving Pavilik the bigger purse. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? Hopkins is 43...Its over for him...

I'm getting tired of posting this. Do you read threads here or just post? Months ago Arum went to HBO and the SOONEST date that they would give him for Pavlik/Abraham was January 2009.

I follow Pavlik quite a bit. Do you have a reference for this? I'll tell you right now, a fight in Youngstown has NO venue that would pay for this fight. Period. Winky has been about money for a long time. He turned down $1.5 million to fight Pavlik. His idea of bigger share meant what? One cent less? Winky forgets who has the belts and is the draw at this point.

 

Yeah, a fight in Youngstown wouldn't make enough. And I pesonally feel Winky is worth more than 1.5, but the rest of the boxing doesnt think so and he's not gonna get more than that. You're right, Winky and Arum couldn't agree on a purse.

 

I think the largest venue is somethin like 5700 seats, if you leave out the ring.

 

Yeah, I think Winky said that just to basically let him know that he'll fight him anywhere, even in his backyard. But Winky and Arum couldn't reach an agreement on purse. But just imagine what if the fight would've happened...

 

Pavlik actually seems to harbor a bit of a grudge against Winky for ducking him on his way up and now DEMANDING a title shot on his terms. He said a few things like he would like to fight Winky because he could beat up on a smaller man. That is some pretty serious smack considering Pavlik usually won't say much negative.
