Even though I do not want to see two of my favroite fighters square off, this should be an interesting clash of styles that could go either way.

why ? because it seems like HBO turned down every pavlik opponent and wanted hopkins forcing the fight .

    why not?
because hopkins is a spoiler/stinks out the joint and will bring pavlik as an entertaining fighter down to his level of spectacle.

IMO team pavlik should have told HBO to **** off .

pavlik is about as an exciting a fighter america has produced in a few years and what does a tv company want.

to match him with the american fighter who has shut down fights the most in the last few years.

are the HBO execs on prozac/downers/trancs/
and not only that insist pavlik step up 10lbs to take the fight.

i hope pavlik ko`s hopkins, but i dont like the style match up.

pavlik keeps his head to still and hopkins , as he proved against a tall stand up boxer in tarver , even a southpaw one, has the style to shut this style down.

good job pavlik has a plan B unlike tarver and pavlik if being outboxed in the first 2 or 3 rounds can grit his teeth and walk through hopkins letting his hands go and outhustle hopkins and stop him from admiring his work.

make hopkins work non stop and jump on him all the time and hopkins will be beaten.

Hopkins is going to get killed by Pavlik. He is 43 years old. Pavlik wins for 3 reasons.

    1. Hopkins has no consistent jab anymore
    2. Hopkins doesn't throw many punches nowadays
    3. Hopkins doesn't have the power to hurt Pavlik

No consistent jab because he has to conserve energy for the later rounds, and I don't think Hopkins can win rounds by throwing only 40 punches per rounds. This fight is so unneccessary

is Popkins a synonym to Pavlik+Hopkins?

I'm struggling to be honest. Power, and errr...heavy hands. Ability to look like a skinhead.

There are very few areas I can conceivably give to Palvik whilst remaining straight faced.

If it was Hopkins 2004 he would have bailed out at negotiations.

If Pavlik knocks BHop out, will you run for cover, or will you come on ESB and admit that he is as good as, or better than, Calzaghe?

How Pavlik performs against Hopkins has nothing to do with Calzaghe.

Whether Pavlik knocks Hopkins out in spectacular fashion, or whether he gets embarassed en route to a lopsided loss, neither says a thing about how he might do against Calzaghe.

I said Pavlik/Hopkins is "not so bad under the circumstances." That is a very long ways from calling it a great fight.

Man get off that. You know as well as I do that nearly every Calzaghe fan on here is scared shitless that Pavlik will perform better against BHop than slappy joe did!
