Is there even a quote of Pavlik saying "Hopkins wasn't that good" ? I have never seen it. I remember him mentioning something to the effect of his crafiness not being the reason he lost. I believe at the time he said something like "It just wasn't my night" over and over again. Later it came out he was sick but he probably didn't want to state that then. He also admitted he got taken to school. The main point about mentioning Hopkins, is that if Pavlik was the type to avoid, would he move up two divisions and fight this risky fight against a crafty fighter like Hopkins who has spoiled many a fighters gameplan?

If you are trying to infer that Pavlik saw an opportunity in Hopkins but is somehow frightened to death of Paul Williams and bullshitting about the staph infections than just come out and say it.

Pavlik does not think that the end of January is three weeks to a month after December 5th. Go back and read Boo Radley's post. Here:

Team Pavlik did ask to reschedule one more time. AFTER Goosen said no, they decided not to fight until after the first of the year. AFTER they made that decision the WBC and WBO started making noise about stripping KP. Arum was in the process of setting up a Latin Fury card and offered Kelly a spot on the card against a Latino he can beat with one good hand.

Look at it this way, Pavlik is making a concession of sorts by fighting sooner than he wants to THATS HOW LITTLE he is afraid of Paul Williams, but since he couldn't get Williams to do it, why bother fighting sooner than he wants to? Why not wait until January? Until along comes the belt orgs and he has to fight or be stripped.

    Get it now??:tired

He's had the fight on offer three times already. Why are we supposed to be so impressed that he's talking **** now that he knows that both him and Paul are safely signed up to fight someone else?

This fight probably ain't never gonna happen. Paul might not get by Martinez. I could see him getting "Quintana" again.

He talked about how he couldn't get off or land on Hopkins. He then followed that up by saying "it's not like he's that good, he lost to Jermaine Taylor twice".

If that's what I thought, I would say it. I pointed out how Pavlik blatantly contradicted himself. I don't think he's duckng anyone. However, it seems as though he's trying to pass some of the blame on Team Williams for the fight not coming off by saying they wouldn't accept a 3-4 week delay. However, the reality is that they wanted to delay the fight almost 2 months.

I want you to point out where I said that Pavlik thinks the end of January is 3 weeks to a month from Dec. 5th. I think just the opposite which is why I said he contradicted himself.

The only person that doesn't seem to get it is you, which is why you're arguing against points I never made.

    You said
and now admit that that isn't even what he said, from the way you are combing through the Pavlik quotes you would think you would try and be as accurate in your statements as you expect a boxer to be.

Which isn't the same thing as saying "Hopkins wasn't that good" quite different in fact. Saying "its not like he's THAT good" does not equal "he wasn't that good"
Obviously he is bringing up Taylor because he beat Taylor twice and Bernard lost to him. But it isn't like he didn't think Hopkins wasn't a great fighter. The whole thing trying to imply Pavlik is somehow avoiding Williams is absurd to any real observer of the situation.

    :patsch

I'm glad you realize that much. Some of the blame does lie with Team Williams for the fight not coming off. They didn't want to wait, I can't blame them completely - its Pavlik that had the infection. Ultimately, the reason is because of Pavlik's hands, not his lack of guts, and the blame lies with Pavlik, but as you admit, this is not a case of a duck. If it was, I would be the first to admit it.

I never wrote that Pavlik thinks the end of January is 3 weeks to a month from Dec. 5th, therefore, you are arguing against points I never made. Show me where I wrote that you thought that. I wanted you to go back and read Radley's post because it clearly explains why Pavlik said what he said and if you comprehended what he posted, you would have no reason to follow up his post with yours. Comprende?

Does Pavlik have to be responsible for what "many Pavlik fans" say? NO. They wanted to make the fight three weeks to a month later. Williams said no. So then, they decided to fight in January, but the belt orgs forced a sooner fight.

Your statement implies that Pavlik somehow mispoke or made a contradictory statement, that he made an error, told a lie. You wrote that he stated a lie. Tell me then, what exactly is the lie that he told?

You bring whole new meaning to En Vogue's "You're never gonna get it"

Kelly said he got schooled after the fight. His words. He was trying to NOT bring up the illness and the injury to take away from Hopkins but it was his first loss and he was trying to indicate there was more to it. People have blown this WAY out of proportion.

Pavlik took a beating from Hopkins. Why would you duck anyone else in that weightclass if you pretty much fought the best person there????

Since you admitted you agree that Pavlik is not ducking Williams, why would he have any need to lie?

I'm both a PTP fan and a KP fan, this fight will be a tough one for me(if it happens). i don;t think Pavlik was ducking PTP. I think the injury was legit and didnt foresee the setbacks. That said, I don't blame the Williams camp for not wanting to wait anymore. They had to get their fighter in the ring......and why wait when another setback could occur? Pavlik seems to be responding to all the criticism he has gotten and is looking to climb out from under some of the blame by pointing to his fight with with BHop. He also threw a few barbs at PTP..... Thats the one thing he shouldn't have done.
