The reason why Pavlik lost was because Hopkins was trowing punches then clinched, Pavlik was not able to react Bhop neutrilized him by grabbing after every punch he throwed, then why is Hopkins so praised and John Ruiz so criticised? they fight with the same style by grabbing and clinching but one is a virtuoso a legend the other needs to be crucified.
Nah....I don't defend any man. If your a man you defend yourself. My point was that PAV is a fighter. As a fighter you have certain swagger or confidence that goes along with being a fighter. Even Bhop made excuses for why he lost to certain fighters even though they were extrememly close. As an undefeated fighter there is a mentality that is almost arrogant. All I'm doing is giving you a broader picture to look at. It's not that Pav was making excuses or not giving hopkins credit b/c he did.....but internally he may have really been torn up with what happened b/c it's a brand new experience for any young undefeated champion.
You didn't watch the fight did you?atsch There weren't many clinches this fight. Bhop was just faster and had the better game plan. He utilized his ring generalship perfectly all night. PAV isn't known as a fighter with great balance which is something the masterful Bhop exposed as a weakness in PAV. The angles and constant lateral momvement kept Pavlik off balance and unable to get off with his offense. The reason why Pav lost had a lot to do with the game plan Hopkins strategized and then implemented on Fight night. I suggest you watch the fight and then make a post b/c it's painfully clear you are just stating what you think happened. Clinching wasn't a factor in any way in this fight.
Excellent post. That's not fair man. In the interview just after the fight he said "what can I say, he taught me a lesson". What else did you want him to say? You're being too harsh on him, Rafa. Good thing your standards are higher than that, but as another poster said earlier, it doesn't get much worse than this. Pavlik was an unstoppable force before the fight (he and his clown trainer surely believed that), and suddenly not only his aura of invincibility vanished, but he got badly beaten. The Calzaghes call him a fraud. And the interview was right after that. I'm giving the guy a break and see how he comes back from this.
KP acted a little bit like a sore loser. He didn't even have the class to go over and congratulate Hopkins after the fight. If Hopkins hadn't approached him with the "lesson for today" lecture, there would not have been an acknowledgment.
Excellent post, Dude! You tell 'em...these arm chair boxing champs (chumps) think its so ez in there. They wouldn't last 3 minutes. Good to hear KP is feeling better. Keep us posted with updates on how things are going in the aftermath of this crushing loss. ((((((((((((((KP SHALL RETURN)))))))))))))) :good
How about what he shouldn't say. He shouldn't say stupid **** like it wasn't him in there and it wasn't Hopkins slickness orr athleticisim that caused him problems. He obviously didn't learn much of a lesson if he really believes this.
If KP was ill with bronchitis, his ass was dragging & obviously not 100%. Don't forget, these comments are coming from a 26 yr old that never experienced defeat before as a pro, immediately after a horrible loss & performance, so you should give him a pass on his comments. They could have been much worse. I think he was as humble in defeat as he is when victorious.
He said those things at the press-conference, right after suffering the biggest embarassment in his career. I wouldn't blame any fighter in his position saying something that is wrong at that particular time. And my guess is he obviously doesn't believe this.
good now that he is back at home he can pull excuses out of his ass. proly he went mental after that beating he took. next stop abraham knocks out the bum back to club boxing. scrub with zero skill shouldnt have been a champion in the first place. @carlesX7 he didnt show at the post fight press he was seen crying and was taken to the hospital to do some check ups.
He wasn't very humble. He straight up insinuated that it was nothing that Hopkins did that caused him to lose and brought up the Hopkins/Taylor and Hopkins/Calzaghe fights as a way to demean Hopkins. He and his trainer were also very dismissive of Hopkins before the fight. Now we hear some bull**** excuses about bronchitis. He sounded fine and said he wasn't tired. He got his ass kicked, no excuses. Luckily, his belt wasn't on the line. Hopefully he learned his lesson, and comes back stronger. I still like Pavlik, but this was a well needed wake up call for him. He started to believe his own hype.
My bad then, I watched another clip of the press-conference where I only saw Bernard and that clown Loew. Pavlik said "he got a lesson" at the interview right after the fight, I didn't see him on the clip I watched and I didn't watch the clip this thread provided before it went dead. So I assumed Pavlik said those things at the press-conference.
About the pre-fight talking he did (it was mainly Loew, though, that said dumb **** before the fight, not Pavlik), fair enough. But I wouldn't expect anybody in Pavlik's place after the fight to say "yes I got my ass handed to me, he ****ed me up cause he has better skills". Noone would do that, no matter how humble or "classy". But he admitted he got a lesson, which is a pretty strong statement to make after a defeat like that. IMO it's understandable to say something wrong when a guy is emotional, confused and dissapointed after that kind of loss.
@CarlesX7 Clown Loew said at the post fight conf AGAIN that they used all plans a b c and they all didnt work... my guess this was his abc plan Plan A: Jab Plan B: Double the jab Plan C: Increase the volume of punches just like Calzaghe did when he beat him. what a clown
