At the same time only Booradley and his delusional crew are believing Pavlik stands a single blind chance. atsch Kids are so excited because "Garcia taght him to use his left arm".
unless youve ever been with an alcoholic its hard to grasp the entire concept if you have never been with one or have been one yourself. alcoholics can never, ever drink. there is no grey area. a sober kp could present tremedous value for a gambler. a non-sober kp is a fade. 168 is an incredible division and there is no room anywhere for mistakes let alone a severe handicap.
garcia is one of the most overrated trainer in sports today. even more so than greg "sport-killer" jackson.
This wouldn't even be close. Pavlik a nightmare for Ward!!?? Surely it's the other way round? A plodding one dimensional fighter who moves in straight lines basically throwing a one two, against a versatile chameleon of a fighter, who'll simply tie him in knots
I like Pavik and would love to see him atleast make this a good fight if it happnes. I just don't think he'll give Ward too many problems. Pavlik is past his best and even at his peak he could never beat Ward. Pavlik was a good middleweight but Ward could end up going down as a great one. At this point Ward probably wins 10 rounds minimum and I could clearly see him forcing a stoppage in the later rounds. It would be interesting to see how much credit Ward would get for beating Pavlik. There will be some who say Pavlik is a washed up drunk and give Ward no credit. Others will view Pavlik as past his best but still a good fighter and give Ward credit for beating him, epsecially if he does it convingly, if this fight ever happens.
Again, all you have to do is look at Hopkins-Pavlik(and that was Pavlik in his prime) to see the result of this fight. Pavlik has a puncher's chance but that's it. He's just too basic to give Ward any trouble. As to the improvement of his left hand, the only thing Garcia has done is basically tell Kelly to try to catch people with the left hook on occasion.
Every Ward opponents has a loss to a fighter dating back to Calzaghe or the great SMW himself. Ward is in a weak era where he only fights leftovers and fighting Pavlik wont prove a thing for Ward
nothing would make me happier than to see kelly pull it off. even as a big ward fan i've pulled for pavlik for years and years. but just look at what he's done over past few years in and out of the ring. the in-ring product i've seen shouldnt give ward any problems. i just don't see it based on what i've seen lately. kelly will have to accept that he's going to get out boxed and tagged hard in the process and hope for a big punch to give him an opening for a flash stoppage. he won't win on points and he won't batter ward into submission. in many ways he'll have to hope for that one jcc/martinez moment and capitalize on it.
