One step at a time. Put the deamons behind, maybe move to a new place, get in shape, get a tune-up and then look for title opportunities. But the competition is growing ever stronger. SMW reached it's peak wereas Pirog, Golovkin, N'Dam and Lemieux are just shaping up to join the 160lbs best. Interesting times, and I hope Pavlik will be back in the ring ASAP.
He's gonna need beer money, so he'll be back. Seriously though, he can punch and is pretty entertaining to watch. I think he'll get his **** together and eventually earn another shot at Sergio.
That would be a great move, but I bet he doesn't do it. He will come back to Youngstown & hang out with the same old douchebags ( his brother/cornerman) & go bar hopping while attempting to just drink 7-Up or some **** like that. Anyone ever known a true drunk? Pavlik fits the profile perfectly with all of his non stop excuses.
When his career started people said he would never amount to anything and then won the title. Hes reading it all now and I can honestly say hes more determined than ever to come back and re-win it. Theres a fire in every boxer, thats what makes them a boxer. Pavliks flame never burned out it only got dim.
Right now he beats the **** out of Sturm and Sylvester so why not. I still want to see AA-Pavlik in middleweight.
Well, maybe Chisora really has the fire but he still won't beat Wlad. Many fighters have the fire but never become champ because too many others have the same fire and more ability. Martinez, Ward, Bute, Froch certainly aren't going to shrive lup in fear just because Pavlik has the fire again and I would favor them all heavily to beat Pavlik.
I hope Pavlik pulls himself together and makes it back in the ring. The middleweight division needs him now. My question is this: has there ever been an elite boxer that returned to the ring from rehab and regained their championship form? I can't think of any successful ones and this doesn't bode well for Pavlik. His time may have already passed.
As a recovered alcoholic and a long time Pavlik fan, naturally I wish Kelly all the best, but I find it hard to be optimistic. I've been involved with Alcoholics Anonymous for over two decades, and I can tell you from experience that most alcoholics do not recover. On the other hand, Pavlik has a lot going for him. His family, Top Rank, and Cameron Dunkin all seem to be 100% supportive. In addition, the Betty Ford Center is world renowned. It's the best money can buy. We now know that the story of KP going to Florida for his Martinez camp, finding subpar conditions, and returning to Youngstown was total bull****. He was at the Betty Ford Center for the first time, and got out just 10 days before the fight. According to Jack Leow, it didn't make any difference. Pavlik kept right on drinking. His drinking cost him his world title, his reputation, nearly cost him his wife and kids, and caused him to catch a beating from a man who had absolutely no business beating him. He must realize this, and that realization is probably tearing him up right now. That's a good thing. It's exactly the kind of experience that might cause an alky to wake the **** up!
