i hope nobody truly thinks taylor is copying KP... lol.. id hope boxing fans would have a little better sense then that, this is a common training technique.
There is nothing harder in boxing than coming back from a beating (believe ma I know). This fight for JT is not for a title (catchweight 166) it's for pride. Jermain has been questioned a lot lately so he has went back to the biginning like most boxers in a slump, go back to your roots where you started.
WTF is the use of hitting a tire w/ a sledge hammer? Is he painting Ozell Nelsons fence and waxing his cars to practice defense:conf
Why on earth did he put the tire in the ring? Anyway hitting the tire with a sledge hammer is a way of getting power while in a boxing stance, many fighters have done it for years, but i'm not sure why Jermaine's is on the ground, I've never seen that before.
Ya, Ya I think we get it, but one guy does it for real and the other guy well? Taylor is about as physical as my 7 year old daughter, so why is he trying to train in a physical manner. He swings the sledge like a girl! The key to Taylor winning is to use his quick jab, box Pavlik and avoid sitting on the ropes. Kelly will be a physical beast @ 166, hell he's probably @ 169 now. Allowing him to make the weight no problem. Did anyone notice Taylor still in long sleeves and sweat gear, while Pavlik is in T-Shirts. Is Taylor still struggling for 166? Pavlik Ko round 6. I'll be in Vegas Feb. 13 and hopefully will have some pics w/ Kelly when I do!
 one guy does it for real? as physical as your 7 year old daughter Taylor was plenty physical in the beginning of the fight... the problem is, Pavlik is the totally wrong opponent to be physical with. And im pretty sure the guy has been hitting a tire for a long time.... jezas, the club mma fighters in my local gym do the excorsise... i guess i dont see how one guys is doing it 'for real' and the other isnt.
Kirk, i get what your saying. It's just a picture and for all we know JT could be whammy-ing the **** out that tire. But to those of us who've followed this closely what makes it funny is that in the first fight, that just about all they talked about with Pavlik: unorthadox training methods, and we must have seen him doing different things with a big ass tire 1,000,000 times. While we saw JT in the fancy Pocconos Training camp, and if JT had done the tire work before (highly likely, just as you say) I've never heard or seen pictures of it. Now in the wake of Pavlik/Taylor I, with II upcoming they release a picture of JT hitting the tire. It is kind of funny. Not to mention, it's said in interview that Taylor's pushing SUV's around parking lot's too! (I know b4 you say it, he's probably always done that. And no Loew didn't invent pushing cars either, but it's carbon copy of HBO's 24/7 Pavlik workout.)
Enough with this bull****. Is it really neccesary to continuely bash a guy for his race, background, and home town? Thats all you ****ing say in any thread about Pavlik. Its bad enough that your a ****ing moron who doesn't know ****, don't make it worse.
Im with pipe wrench on this one though--how in the hell did they get that big ass tire in the middle of the ring and why in the hell would they put it there?
I posted earlier, I'm sure this was just a photo op. Geez guys. Staged for the camera. You are putting way too much into this photo.
You gotta give them credit for that, carrying that big ass tire into the ring is a workout even Pavlik hasn't thought of.
Umm,I dont think its a photo op,,why not just hand him a sledge and leave the tire on the gym floor if thats the case? Either way---hes training this way for this fight, he made a fuss that pavlik was hitting and pulling suv's around parking lots for the first fight and now hes doing it is the whole point to the post.
