The fact that Pavlik originally asked why he wasn't invited shows that Pavlik DID have a lot of interest in going up in weight to participate. It was a big deal to him IMO.
His 'mistake' is Arum's mentoring is showing. Fans want to pretend the business part of the game isn't there for the most part. Those $2.5 and $3.0 million pay days gave him certain expectations and it seems he can't let go of them. But you know what? That is his call. I'm not in his shoes and I don't know if he is right or wrong.
You claim you're a fan, but bringing up Mora and Duddy makes that VERY hard to beleive. A Duddy fight was scrapped about a year and a half ago. Nixing the Mora fight was one of Pavlik's demands when he negotiated his new contract with Top Rank. Seems like a fan would have a handle on information that old.
Well one thing that Kelly WAS right about, he just needs the winner. Of course what happens in the next 18 months will determine if he GETS the winner.
That's another very good point. It just seems odd (his statements recently) that a normally happy go lucky guy like Pavlik is now furious and cranky. I think Pavlik is struggling to deal with the criticism and the bad press...or maybe just the press in general? I mean we know he worked his ass to get this point, he seems REALLY frustrated with this whole situation and that's worriesome.
Wait a minute, before I go and slowly try to decipher what Pavlik was meaning in this ****, what are the opinions of everybody as to "WHY DID PAV NOT GET INVITED??". I'm just gettin' off work here and tryin' to catch up, Arriba, so help a brother out please? Did Pavlik decline an invite or did the "makers of the tourny" decide it would be a better tourny with out Pavlik's presence?
There are two camps and I have not a clue which is right and which is wrong. ONE is that he WAS invited and the people in charge (Dunkin, Arum and Pav himself) asked for too much. The OTHER is Pavlik never got an invitation to the tournament. My guess is that when this was put together, the big wigs (Sauerland, whoever represents Froch and the Goosen/Dibella camp) realized having Bob Arum involved would probably cause a big to do with the tournament and they all decided to leave Pavlik out. Just a guess of course.
Well this fan hasnt had internet access for two months so give me a ****in break. So who are Pavlik's next opponents likely to be???
That's all stupid semantics. Title holder, champion, lineal champ etc etc etc. Waaay too much semantically dripped nature involved.
