Personally I think that Pavlik is still a bit under rated.
Zuniga was favored to beat Pavlik.
McKart was favored to beat Pavlik.
Miranda was favored to beat Pavlik.
Taylor was favored to beat Pavlik.
These 4 fighters have 2 things in common. 1) None had ever been stopped before. 2) They all got knocked the **** out by Kelly Pavlik.

The original poster claimed that Pavlik just walks foward throwing haymakers. However, The Zuniga fight was in fact a solid display of some pretty good boxing. Against McKart Kelly's corner told Kelly about a hole in Bronco's defense. Kelly followed instructions to the letter, shot a fantastic lead right to the body in round 5, and that lead to "Supermans" demise in round 6. The original poster also claimed that Pavlik "just walks forward throwing haymakers" in every fight he has seen him in. Well the guy must have missed the Taylor fight because it was 2 perfectly executed jabs followed by a text book perfect 1-2 in the middle of the ring that spelled the beginning of the end for JT. I have watched that fight about 8 times, and the reallity is that in round 5 they went from slug-fest to boxing match. When it turned into a boxing match is when the tide turned and Kelly took over!.

Kelly Pavlik is only 25 years old. He is undefeated with a record of 32-0,29 KO's. And he is the universally recognized middleweight champion. At 25 he hasn't even entered his prime. It's hard to say what he might accomplish in the future, but here's my best guess: Pavlik will clean house at 160 and gather up all the belts. He'll move to 168 within 18 months, and over a period of 2 years or so he'll clean out that division. Eventually he'll move to 175, and win a world title, but he won't dominate that division like he will 160 and 168. He is a future hall fame inductee that we will remember as a solid 3 division champion.

Only non-US respondents would say he is the MOST overrated fighter in years. You obviously have not seen very many of his fights. Nice post Boo. Where are you from?

Kelly Pavlik is actually underrated by some people!

I expected that even after the great year he had in 2007, there would still be a few Kelly Pavlik doubters. However, after Kelly wins another convincing KO victory over Taylor on Feb 16, some of that doubt will be put to rest!

I unfortunately think that because of Kelly's awkardness, he will always have doubters.

how is being out on your feet a few rounds before a convincing ko win? yes good recovery but if he was in there with a finisher he wouldn't have his 0 anymore

Pavlik overrated? If he was beating bums and claimed to be the champ, then yeah i would agree. He beat Edison Miranda, who at the time was this powerhouse machine who was gonna take the Middleweight division by storm. Pavlik beat him in a star making performance and got a title shot. Taylor may be a overall better boxer/fighter but his chin and lack of stamina will always cost him. Bernard Hopkins will never get in the same ring with Pavlik. If they were to fight, Bernard be a marathon runner all night. Pavlik will ko Taylor again or win a decision if Taylor decides to box. I do agree Calzaghe and Kessler would beat him.

How many people are overrating Pavlik? Other than a few fan types with blinders on that all good boxers have, I just have not seen a groundswell of people saying that he's the future of boxing greatness.

I'm a fan of Pavlik and I think his he's a very good young fighter, with a good head on his shoulders, and he's getting better. The one point that I agree with is that he needs to fight better defensively, or he will get KTFO by a ggod bloxer puncher. Fotunately for Pavlik after the serious KD against Taylor he did just that. Pavlik is a good learner, and with the better competition he is facing, I am confident that the defensive side of the equation is being upgraded as we speak by Pavlik and his team.

Pavlik has a a very good chin. The combination Taylor threw in round 2 was spectacular and I think he majority guy @ midde wieght would not have gotten up. Damn Pavlik was up @ the count of 2 or 3 after that. I don't think his chin is completely granite but it's pretty damn good

stupid post you have got it totally backwards taylor is the one who has been vastly overrated with bogus decisions and hbo cheerleading for him. No one is overatting pavlik but if they are nothing like what the guy he just beat to a pulp in the corner with the ref saving him from brain damage. Idiot

the combination really only had ONE clear punch landing if memory serves me correctly and he was already going down facefirst.

Don't forget everyone the only reason taylor even hurt pavlik is because he stuck his tongue out at him, if you don't have dvr you might not know this but taylor smoked pavlik as he was sticking his tongue out at taylor just like he had already done several times. You take that out of the fight if he never showboats then taylor gets dominated, just like this next fight

Worst post I have ever seen. How you can use that as a defining point of the fight is beyond me.
