Start at the point where Kelly acts like a dumb ass by sticking his tongue out, and watch in slo-mo up to the kd. Taylor hit pavlik with everything he could including elbows and head butts. Kelly dropped his hands and stuck his chin out in response to a blatant elbow, and he paid the price. The fact remains he was up at 2, and by the end of the round Taylor was initiating the clinches. Oh, about those haymakers, are you aware that a 50% connect rate is not uncommon for Pavlik? What Kelly does in the ring ain't always pretty, but it is effective. Boo
On the contrary, Taylor is the one who was ridiculously overrated, until Pavlik - the first legitimate MW with power he'd ever fought - burst his HBO-created bubble. Taylor has NEVER beaten a legitimate world rated MW clearly. HBO padded his record against the usual tomato cans and also rans, but as soon as he ran into decent fighters, they had to get him gift decisions. He is a FRAUD, and he will be exposed again in this rematch.
Sad thing is people still doubt Pavlik even though he's thoroughly crushed his opponents where as many people still somehow favor Taylor to win the rematch and he's struggled against everyone since Eduardatsch
Not any fists. Controversial scorecards. Pavlik is to be rated the best Middleweight in the world -- he can't be rated any higher than that, and he got to that position not though shady decisions but undisputable knockouts. So tell me again how he could possibly be overrated? Two or three comments made by kids on a message board that he would whip Hagler or something? I don't think that's a popular opinion, and it's a fantasy matchup to boot. In the here and now, he is #1. I suspect you mean he has flaws, probably focussing on the leaks in his defense. He has those, and he's sloppy in other areas, but he got to where he is by taking advantage of every oppertunity to prove himself.
Preach it brutha:deal Even though I may be the worst Pavlik nut hugger in this forum, I became a Taylor fan back on September 29th. Taylor said before the fight, "Kelly Pavlik will see my ferocious side." And JT was true to his word. He fought like a true warrior. It just wasn't enough to keep Kelly off of him. I truly wish he had taken some route into the future other than the immediate rematch. Boo
Nah, boo, this rematch is all he has left. It will be his Waterloo, I suspect, but where else can he turn? Taylor has said he has trouble making weight. So the SMW division would be where his alternative would lie. Therein awaits Kessler and Andrade. I don't think Taylor could make much noise up there. FYI: I think Taylor is a tribute to the sport and very athletically gifted. He never ducked anyone, went for the challenges. Most of them were close, and he was favored by judges, which is regrettable but he won't be the last champion to receive them. It is, in my view, a champions responsibility to grant worthy challengers oppertunities. He did that. We can't ask him to dominate every fight like some forum members do -- you can only fight to the best of your abilities.
Exactly, how can anyone not admire the mans courage. . . both men for that matter. Boxing would be lucky to have either one as the #1 p4p ambassador - rather than the coward we currently have.
