I'm not taking anything away from bhop's win, it was masterful and especially at his age, very impressive. Although I can't help but wonder had this fight been fought at middleweight the outcome would have been different. Pavlik put on 10 ****ing pounds to fight hopkins. thats massive, thats two weightclasses. that was as much as oscar put on to fight hopkins. pavlik looked slow and with good reason, if you arent used to fighting 2 weightclasses above what you regularly fight at you will be slow. same thing happened in the fight with wright.

the only legit fight he's fought at lightheavy is tarver, who was never that great to begin with. as i said im not trying to take anything away from bhops win, it was good, but i dont think it was as great as alot of people are making out.

Don't insult this forum's intelligence. You say you're not trying to take anything away from Hopkins' win and then you proceed to do so. This is just as bad as Pavlik saying he wasn't trying to make excuses and then proceeded to make excuses. Pavlik was a 3-1 favorite. The whole talk leading up to this fight was not who would win but whether or not Pavlik would stop Hopkins. If Hopkins was still a MW, he would kick Pavlik's ass just the same. Pavlik is not in Hopkins's league. Both he and his fans need to realize this.

Actually in a sense, BHop is a middle that retained most of his power and speed when he jumped weight classes. I don't believe for a second that he couldn't hit 160 in a second if the money was there. KP just lost a lot of his speed (I think he is as strong as ever) when he moved up. In a sense, they are both big middles that have a hell of a time draining down.

Hopkins moved up two weight classes to beat tarver at 175.

Pavlic fought Hopkins at a catch wight which IMO was Super Middle , and Hopkins at 43 came down in weight after moving up .
This is not the first time pavlic has stepped in the ring at 169 or 170, so the he came in the ring 10 pound over his natural weight is a **** excuse.

He fought at his natural weight and got hammered by a 43 yr old, Pavlik really belongs at 168. Lame excuse, Bhops kicks his ass at any weight.

Dude you need to quite, Pavlic has stepped into the ring in the past weight 169 and 170 and he didn't have an issue ..

Pavilc problems is that he can't fight at angles and need someone standing in front of him to be effective. Hopkins gave him head movement angles , and was breaking up his timing and not letting pavlic set to throw punches.

Because of the nature of the fight, it had nothing to do with Pavlik's conditioning, it was all about his limited style and Hopkins ring smarts. Pavlik didn't land a single big right hand in the fight, i think that sums it all up.

Two big middleweights fought above the 160lbs limit, one was 26 and one was 43, the 43-year old dominated effortlessly. Pavlik wasn't fighting a bigger man, and in all honesty I would be shocked if Pavlik could make 160lbs for 17 years like Hopkins did.

There is no excuse for Pavlik in this fight, he got outclassed by a much, much, much better fighter who happens to be 17 years his senior.

Although i think the weight excuses are a load of horse ****, Hopkins was certainly the bigger man. Pavlik is built like a girlscout at 170, Hopkins has muscle in his ****.

Pavlik doesn't have any muscle at 160, he's simply not a muscular guy. However, he is taller and has longer arms than Hopkins.

I couldn't have said it better myself. And for the guys who said they PAv-Hop could've fought at 160, Hop moved up to fight the lightheavy champ of the world. He was not coming back to 160.

Yeah, thats what im saying though, theres more to size than just height and reach. Hopkins looks like a beast at 170.
