I don't have a clip, but the reports are correct IMO. He looked hurt bad. I was surprised he made it out of the round.

I liked his comment in the interview after the fight. Merchant asked him what he was thinking when he got knocked down and Kelly replied, "I thought 'Sh*t, this is going to be a long night' ".

The initial left hand that hurt Pavlik went right to his toes. That punch alone wouldn't have dropped him. But KP tried to taunt & showboat after that & thats when he got caught with a couple of more shots that caused him to slump to the canvas as he was holding onto Jermain.

Kelly's Pop & Jack Lowe have to have a long talk with Kelly about that taunting BS. That **** has got to stop...yesterday!!!

He was definitely hurt bad and part of it was because he got caught while trying to feign not being hurt. That stunt damn near cost him the fight.

But to his credit he provided one of the most glaring examples of toughness I've ever seen. He got up and was still visibly wobbly but managed to get through another minute or so without going down again.

I too loved that quote when Merchant asked what was going through his mind while on the canvas. That was a classic.

Oh he was hurt....he was hurt the rest of the round. If Taylor knew how to finish, Pavlik would have been done in round 2.

The interesting part is that he doesn't seem like the showboat kinda guy. He is really down to earth and humble during his interviews so for him to do that and get caught was almost a guaranteed thing.

I have not been a Pavlik fan as he has beaten two fighters I like the past year (Bronco Mckart and Miranda) but I liked him a lot more after watching some of his interviews and seeing some of that behind the scenes stuff. Plus, he's a guy from a tough Midwestern town, so we have that in common. :D He certainly has made a believer out of me when it comes to his ability. I thought he was overrated after the McKart win.

he was definitely badly hurt, and for some reason didn't bother clinching after he was initially rocked. he took several clean power shots because of that

Pride. often fighters won't clinch and smile or do other crap after getting rocked that is out of their character (when they are not hurt) to try to cover up that they are really hurt. Big George Foreman always said that when boxers smile after getting hit means the opposite.
Some guys do the same thing even after getting knocked down they nod their head like that aint anything, im fine, yet their legs are jello...anyone recall when Briggs was getting rocked by Lewis, he kept smiling and knoding his head throughout the fight when he would get rocked.
