Pavlik deserves an easy fight for a change.

Lockett can really bang . Pavlik will win and probably fairly easily in the end , he may have to get up off the floor to do it though.

Lockett is quite a big puncher, but hasn't really been in with anyone decent enough at domesic level to prove he has what it takes to give Kelly Pavlik a hard time.

The best fighter he has beaten is Ryan Rhodes.

Most of his fighters have losing records (or almost losing records).

This doesn't necessarily amount to a row of beans, but given the fact that 160 is hardly the strongest division in the UK, I'm surprised he hasn't challenged for the British title, or even a Commonwealth title.

Yet another Sports Network fighter taking the 'inter-alphabetty route' followed by the WBU title.

His ranking of No. 1 by the WBO is ridiculous - it just shows the influence that Frank Warren has over the WBO.

I have read that HBO wants Lockett because he is trained by Enzo Calzaghe and Lockett Vs Pavlik will help set up a Pavlik vs Joe Calzaghe story line down the road:yep

nobody in boxing deserves an easy fight where did you get that piece of crap from? fans go to bixing fights for an easy victory errr nope, us fans want a fight whichboth partys have a good chance of winning especially when ur the champion, how many people can actully respect a champion if he is having easy fights, sergio mora for example allways fighting easy opponents do u respect him as fighter becuase he likes having easy fights? having easy fights results in credibility tarnished , how many people on this bord argue about calzaghes resume and easy fights? it tarnishs his reputation n that will happen to pavlik if he takes easy fights

fighters sometimes forget what boxing is meant to be, which is sports entertainment. It should not simply be a job for a fighter that he pursues at his own pace and will depending on his mood and bank account. Fighters have an obligation to fans and to the sports entertainment industry. lets hope pavlik doesnt fall into this trap

No doubt the stereotype of the horizontal British fighter will be reinforced.:!:

Frank doesnt like to guide his fighters down the traditional route. He did the same with JC and Hatton and steered them well clear of the commenwealth and EBU. To be honest these days the commenwealth title isnt worth much of a lick but the EBU definitly holds some value. Frank always prefers the WBU route or the WBO. There always the path of least resistance.

Pavlik has been put down and in trouble by lesser punchers, he is not exactly hard to hit.

Expect this fight to be for the WBO strap only, WBC will not sanction it.

He just fought the ex-champ back to back---Maybe you havent seen his last 4 fights before you start rambling on how pavlik is taking it easy.:-( Also, Lockett being who he is is still the #1 WBO Challenger and you still whine like an idiot? Who the hell do you want him to fight? Who would make you happy?

I can't believe you guys:patsch Gary Lockett, John Duddy,Giovanni Lorenzo, Marco Antonio Rubio and Randy Griffin are all top ten 160 pounders and worthy of a title shots and would Pavlik tough fights. I don't know why just think guys like Winky and Abraham are worthy of getting in ring with Pavlik.:huh Seems you guys just care about a handful elite fighters fighting each other:verysad Don't forget two years ago Pavlik had a record that was much like Lockett's and Lorenzo's having fought for the most part club fighters:nono If you guys had your way the med level contenders would never get a chance too fight the elite and become the elite themselves.:bart

I never said anything about the others - only saying that Gary Lockett ain't up to the job.

Boxrec don't have him in the top 20 - yet he has been on a long unbeaten run, something like 20 fights, which usually ensures a good Boxrec rating!
