Lockett works for me. He's a #1 contender for one of Pavlik's belts. If its really Pavlik's goal to get all the middleweight belts he'd have to fight him sooner or later as a mandatory. With Abraham and Sturm not available yet he might as well solidify his hold on the belts he already has.

Pavlik can't fight Abraham right because they want that to be a big fight so they will probably try and get him on the undercard to lead to a unification fight. He is making a mandatory defense which is what is required and all champs do. Pavlik will still be trying to unify the belts if he can get the others to fight him, I think Abraham will as he doesn't have anything left to prove except to be the man and that means beating Pavlik. As far as Sturm though, I doubt he will fight him because he is happy fighting in Europe as a "world champ." Middleweight has some good prospects right now but they need to start stepping up and fighting each other to determine who is elite fighters. Names like John Duddy, Andy Lee, Giovanni Lorenzo, and I hate to say it but Sergio Mora. They need to fight named opponents and prove that they are good. I hear Lee may fight Marco Antonio Rubio on the undercard which would be a good step up. If that fight is made and Abraham fights on the card, it would be a nice way of leading into future title fights. They did similar thing with the Pavlik_Miranda fight on Taylor-Spinks. Anyway, Pavlik will be defending is belts and trying to unify the others but he has to make his mandatory defenses or lose the ones he already has.

Sturm has a good jab and may give Pavlik trouble but after his robbery against De La Hoya he probably doesn't think he will get a fair deal in the US and I don't blame him. PLus he has a couple rivalries in Castillejo and Slyvester, and even a rematch with Griffin. I see Pavlik and Abraham fighting before Sturm and Pavlik

Pavlik is going to keep fighting and stay busy rather than just fight twice a year. He won't face the best contenders everytime because you can't do that with their schedules and making your mandatory defenses. It'll be nice to see a fighter fight 4 times a year. If he can knockout 2 guys a year out of 4, he is going to be huge in another year or 2. You can't say his fights aren't entertaining.

    Abraham's management plan:

    March 29 - Ayala
June 7 - mandatory def. on the undercard of Pavlik - Lockett (though I've got doubts about AA landing this slot b/c of Arum's latest statements)
September - another stay busy fight
    beginning of 2009 - Pavlik

I hope Abraham is on the Pavlik undercard but even if not, he needs a fight in the US or at least on HBO/Showtime for people to get to see him to hype the Pavlik-Abraham fight. If this happens, the unification will be huge and each fighter will make some good money. Its the best middleweight fight out there in the next year as Andy Lee makes a name for himself.

wow calm down, if you actully read what i wrote! a was just saying that nobody should have an easy fight in boxing, i never said anything bout pavlik takin it easy! i was talking to the poster of this thread! i love how pavlik is fighting the big fights, but if the guy wants wto have easy fights then he is going to be critized of who he has fought in his career like certain other fighters, now that he is champion doesnt merit him to have time off from the big fights is what i am saying! n personally i would like to see him fight john duddy

you can kid yourself all you want, but john duddy is a perfect example of the term, hype-job.
