What should we expect to see? We didn't really see enough to know anything, but he was in the ring and that's a start. He did seem to be focused on landing left hooks and didn't seem as sharp or quick of the Kelly of old, but the important thing for him here is he easily won the fight, which gives him confidence to do it again and he's back training. One step at a time. Rather or not he keeps on the right path is anybody's guess at the moment.
One of the training videos that surfaces showed him working on a triple left with the last being a hard dig to the body so we didn't see much of the new arsenal that they worked on. A post fight interview indicates Kelly feels he could have finished him in the first but was being patient and wanted to go some rounds.
I don't know about that, they hand out belts like candy nowadays. He's not about to beat someone like a Bute, Froch, Ward, or Kessler. However, I could see him beating some B level fighter for a vacant title, or for the WBA regular title.
Took 2 rounds? Omg! Get with the times Pavlik, todays age is all about speed, fast cars, fast computers, fast food, if we gotta wait more then 3 minutes to see a KO this sport is not going to survive. Not a very good day for ESB, I will check back in a fews days. Enjoy the rest of your weekend boys.
I'd actually bet money he could hang with Froch and Kessler and probably win. It looks like he is working on changing back to more boxing like his amateur days under Garcia so I'll reserve judgement on Ward and Bute though I believe at minimum he would be competitive with them in 6 months time.
He is looking healthy and physically strong that is the important part I think, and I am happy to see that. Pavlik has the ability he has proved it against the best in the world he just needs to be putting healthy things into his body and working out hard and he is with a good trainer so he can go all the way to the top.
I'd like to see him string together a couple more wins at the Clevel then shoot for a winnable Blevel fight vs a guy like Magee. Maybe win a minor title like that and then his team can gauge his progress a bit more. See if he's ready for the big stage again. And PPL talk about Kessler and Froch as if they're on some untouchable pedestal for KP. I agree, that even prime for prime, KP would be competitive if not victorious against either. I don't see why he can now, 2 yrs junior the both, beat them if his body and mind are right. I'd take a healthy Pavlik over Steiglitz anyday.:deal
Sounds like he is fighting again in june so it will be good to see him fight someone better and Pavlik will be sharp by then. He trained for 3 straight months and only had one sick day according to the trainer. Loew said that Pavlik had not done nothing since the Lopez fight when Loew was talking all Pavlik's problems in a interview after the break up. Another 3 months of hard training like that he will be in great health.
