Irish super middleweight contender, and European SMW champion Brian Magee was in negotiations for a fall fight with British champion Paul Smith for a few months. Apparently this was a mandatory defense for Smith, and would take place in September. The two sides could not reach an agreement, so the fight was set to go to a purse bid when suddenly Magee lost all interest, and his team informed Smith they do not want the fight.

Kelly Pavlik plans to return to the ring in November. Insider information from Team Pavlik indicates that KP will not fight Bute without a tune-up. Did someone from Top Rank whisper a few promises in Magee's ear? Is the six foot southpaw Magee Pavlik's "tune-up?"

It makes sense. Magee is a natural 168, a southpaw, and only one inch shorter than Bute. From what I can gather, Magee is a decent fighter, but he tends to lose when he tries to step up to world class level. Like I said, it makes sense.

On the other hand, maybe Magee is just straight up ducking Smith. Anyone have any insight?

Boo, I now you love Pavlik, but if Pavlik fights Bute, he's getting knocked out.

I'm not sure where he will go after that.

He's needs a guy that can teach how to diversify his offense and how to fight in the inside.

Magee recently destroyed Larsen in Denmark, and he gave Carl Froch a good fight before being stopped in the 11th. He's a tough fighter and he would give Pavlik a good scrap.

    First ive heard of this.
Ive never liked Magee that much but wish him well. I think its a good tune up for Pavlik, one that I think Pavlik would look good in and score KO in.
Magee was on the deck 3 times against a well past his best R Reid. Magee isnt world class but is solid.

It's pure speculation on my part, but the situation with Magee looks dodgy. He just demolished Mads Larsen, and all of a sudden he wants to avoid Paul Smith:think

I haven't even heard if they have decided on a weight class yet, let alone an opponent.

Pavlik is currently trying to KTFO his liver.

I doubt he knows where he is, much less who he's fighting next.

I closed my original post with a question that ask if anyone had any "insight." Your limited intellectual capacity means this is not a thread where you are capable of contributing anything of value.

You give him way too much credit. There is NO thread where he is capable of contributing anything of value. iListed a LONG time ago.

He has not decided, as of yet... The only certainty is that Jack will be his trainer.

Aceshigh is actually PW's 8 year old sister. I put her on ignore ages ago, but every once in awhile I use the "view post" option and read a post. I suppose that arises from the same sort of morbid curiosity that causes one to sniff rotten meat before you throw it out.
