To quote our good friend Vincent Gottschalk; "Word on the street is" Pavlik/Martinez is a done deal for April.

    no ****?!

this is a dangerous fight. not only b/c sergio himself is tough but also b/c of the implications of kelly fighting a guy who just lost to the guy he really wants to fight. he should put him down and i expect a ko but still.

having said that...and like i said in a thread the other day...they should get quintana to spar with.

way to man up from Martinez. A LMW fighting Paul Williams and Kelly Pavlik back to back.

You may be making this to complicated. Lennox Lewis said something like, "If I were Cintron, I'd keep the pressure on him, and force him to keep his hands up. That would take Martinez out of his comfort zone. He's lettin' him get way to comfortable."

I think it's probably that simple.

    hmm says . . .

    :deal

I want a rematch with PW if he does well with Pavlik.
Would also love to see Pavlik and Williams..

We could have a big three LMW fiasco..

Good for both. I like the way that Martinez, without batting an eye, just takes on KP, and KP accepts. The way fights should be made. This should be a showcase for both fighters, but I don't see Pavlik dropping this; look for Sergio to acquit himself pretty well for 4 or 5 rounds and then start showing the effects of Pavlik's punches. KP in 10 or so, but Martinez hangs in there well for a few and by doing so makes himself a viable opponent for PW for supremecy at 154.

yeah maybe. lewis was right. sergio does drop his hands a lot and after a few rounds of dancing around does tend to move in straighter lines. should be a matter of time before the fight gets waved off but it will be a tough fight.

Good post, and I'm sure your realize that if Sergio makes it to the 10th, he'll be the first to do that at 160.

Wow, mad respect for Martinez! Back to back fights with Williams and Pavlik. I'm glad Martinez has decided to step up and fight Pavlik. Way to go Sergio!

If anyone can, it's Sergio. And if he does, that's a real feat, and, furthermore, I think he will, backing Pwill into a corner where he either fights Pavlik or a rematch. It's win all around.

EDIT--This will also help a possible Sturm fight happen. IT just makes too much sense to not unfold.
