Pavlik is putting literally everything on the line in this fight. A loss to Sergio Martinez at this point in Kelly's career would be devastating. A win is just a win over a light middleweight who lost to a guy that Carlos Quintana beat. It's a lose/lose situation for Pavlik. I say that because even though half the web sites on the net, and a good number of posters on ESB, claim KP can't win this, afterward they'll demote Sergio to club fighter status the same way they did nearly all of KP's past opposition.

The only think Pavlik can do to redeem this situation is dominate Martinez. He absolutley MUST leave people with the impression that Sergio Martinez should have never been in the ring with Kelly Pavlik. He has to come out and make this look like a Pit Bull fighting a Jack Russell Terrier.

Pavlik has the physical skills and attributes to make this a fairly one sided affair. The big questions revolve around his current mental status. Is he as hungry and dedicated as he was when he blew through McKart, Miranda, and Taylor? Or, did the events of the past 18 months leave him totally muck-fuddled?

If the beast we watched from July 2006 through February 2008 shows up, Sergio takes a short and brutal beating. If anything less than that shows up, The Pavlik Nation could be in for a long ****ing night.

I cannot agree that a win "is fine." Martinez has never fought a real middleweight. He is open to at least 3 of KP's best weapons: the right hand nearly all the time, the long left hook when he circles away from the right hand, and the left uppercut when he ducks under. Martinez also ends up with his back to the ropes frequently, and he does not keep his guard up. Against KP, on paper, that should be a recipe for disaster. If it's not, even I will start to question where KP really stands in the over all scheme of things.
