I hope they do fight so that williams can see how much of a dumb idea it was to move to 160 and get knocked out

I say why not...Certainly Williams would be a much bigger fighter at 160 than Lockett was....and his skill is better than Miranda by leaps and bounds so with that logic.... it might be Kelly's most accomplished challenger aside from J.T. so why not????

Pavlik/Williams is probably a better fight than Pavlik/Duddy or Pavlik/Mora. A guy with the screen name "Billy Conn" probably knows that 154 is not one of the original 8 divisions, so for a top welter to step up against a top middleweight is not as outlandish as some people want to make it seem. However, I still say this fight is a disappointment. I got excited when the word was that Winky was being reasonable about money. That is the fight to make other than Abraham.

I have no idea what Williams thinks he is going to do. Paul is the one who wanted this fight. Not Pavlik, not Dunkin, not Arum, not even Goosen. Paul has supposedly wanted to fight Pavlik for awhile.

Was it "Jinx" in another thread that said he is a natural middle and spars with Williams and Williams is bigger than he is. So, my guess is, the guy is killing himself to make weight, the article said none of the other tops WW's will fight him, so....... I assume he believes he can move up and take advantage of all of those flaws people seem to think Pavlik has.

That makes too much sense. The problem is HBO won't pay for those fights.

Good points re: the move up in weight

Of course I'd rather see a Winky fight, just for the chance to see Winky get whacked....And a win over Winky certainly would mean a lot more at this point in time....

I think Winky would be a tougher fight than Abraham. I think you described that potential match-up with A.A. as target practice practice for Kelly.

With the singular exception of punching power everything Abraham does Winky does better. One of the reasons I would love to see Pavlik/Winky NOW is because it is great experience. Yes, Pav has 34 fights, but the total rounds of boxing is relatively low. He's only been past 9 rounds 1 time. 23 of his KO's came inside 3 rounds! At 26 he is still in the learing curve, and probably 18-24 months from his peak. No amount of sparring can take the place of 8-10 rounds of real boxing with a world class opponent, and that is what we would get with Wright.

Pavlik has nothing to win in this fight. If he kos Williams early people will say Williams was a WW and had no buisness at MW. If somehow Williams makes a close fight out of it, Pavlik will be critizised for having a tough fight. If he loses, we could finally say Williams has adapted good to MW.

They talked to Hopkins, but it doesn't sound like that even got started.... You're talking two guys having problems finding the right dance partner........

I think this fight will undoubtedly end with Pavlik KOing Williams. The question is whether Paul Williams will be the same and be perceived as an elite fighter in the sport
