It is terrible, even his most loyal fans CAN'T deny it. They still promised a possible fight with Abraham after it so let's wait, hope they won't be calling out Pacquiao or Mayorga in the end.
Mora has two fights at JMW. One got him the WBC belt. Other than those two fights he has always been a middle weight. I could make the argument he lost his belt because he was too drained making 154. Still, Marquez is coming up two weight divisions for this fight so his chances are about as good as Mora's. He might be class A at Lightweight, but not at WW. Let's be real honest here. What top WW do you see Marquez beating? Besides, Pavlik said he wanted some time off because of his family. Just had another kid, his first son. So, this could be considered him, taking time off if you like. Negotiations ARE underway for Abraham this November. That has been pretty much confirmed by both sides. Mora is a stay busy fight for the best paycheck he could find in the mean time because of Mora's "Contender" exposure. I'll give you JMM is a good fighter, but he is also a "no hoper" against the best WWs.
This isn't even a WW fight, it's a catchweight at 144 and as I previously stated, JMM is coming off major wins and already publicly announced he will make a move up to secure a fight with Pac whether Mayweather fought him or not. Both cases don't even come close. This is Mayweather fighting the #2 P4P after 2 years off, whether Marquez moving up makes it look weak to you or not is another discussion, no matter how "weak" he might look to you for moving up in weight he's not still as weak as someone as terrible as Mora, we're not just talking about Mora we're talking about a Mora coming off a loss where he was knocked down and nearly knocked the **** out against a shot to pieces Vernon Forrest. Again, Mayweather coming off 2 years of INACTIVITY is nothing similar to Pavlik who has been active coming off a loss to Hopkins and a win over a tomato can in Rubio. Even before Hopkins he fought another tomato can in Lockett and that's his Middleweight title reign. The cases aren't even close really no matter how anyone would try to make them look like. You're almost making it sound like the way people spoke of Pacquiao before he ran into DLH because of weight. An A class fighter can make it look great moving up based on ability and skill. Marquez is class A and Mora class C- at best or D+. Pavlik already had a tune-up fight in Rubio and this is just another one, Mayweather zero fights in nearly 2 years before signing to fight Marquez. *EDIT to add some more* It's like your'e indirectly hinting that Marquez can be looked at like he's Mora because he's moving up in weight which is ridiculous. Marquez' last three fights include a win over Diaz, Casamayor and a VERY close fight with current #1 P4P king Pacquiao. Mora has done nothing worth mentioning in his career other than beating a shot to pieces Forrest which was later avenged in brutal fashion. Even a bloated Marquez, if that's how you want to describe him as even before watching him perform at the weight, is LEAGUES above Mora. I feel ******ed and pathetic even thinking that I'm comparing the two. Marquez is moving 1 division and a half up, not two divisions. There's a reason they agreed on a catchweight and not 147 and you can't just come here and say it's the same anyway, if it was the same they would have ignored and moved on to fight anyone else. If anything this is worse for Mayweather moving down rather than worse for Marquez moving up. Moving up is ALWAYS easier than down in boxing.
My point is that you are so quick to jump on Pavlik for this fight yet Mayweather didn't even consider getting an established WW and it is a stacked division. I'm sure you are one of the people calling MW one of the weakest divisions in boxing, no? Yet you expect Pavlik to find someone better in his division when Mayweather retired rather than face the WW 2 years ago? Then comes back and STILL won't face them? Yeah, fights the #2 P4P who is moving up two weight classes to take the fight. I wonder how much that weight concession cost the Mayweather team to make this happen at this weight which OBVIOUSLY favors Mayweather?
You're wrong, I never ever said that the MW division is a weak one and I'm sure you will agree with me that fighting Lockett, Rubio and Mora is definitely poor. Sure, I can't blame Pavlik for Lockett and Rubio because they were mandatories though still tune-up quality. Then comes Mora again and he's below tune-up quality in my opinion. About Mayweather at 147, I don't really know why you're twisting the subject totally here. We all know Mayweather's intentions by accepting Marquez' challenge and it has nothing to do with 147 and whatever. If you want to speak about how the WW division is packed then I'll be more than glad to discuss it. Who's packing it exactly? Cotto who lost to Margarito in brutal fashion?, Mosley who lost to Cotto?, Clottey who barely looked half decent against Judah and lost to Margarito?, Berto who went life and death/arguably lost to Collazo?, Collazo who lost to Mosley and Hatton?, you honestly believe those guys would set up a megafight?. Those are the top guys at WW and they themselves have unfinished business with each other yet Mayweather owes them a fight? Mayweather's return is simple and clear, the fight with Marquez is just a confirmation, it's to seek Pacquiao. Also I have to remind you as you are clearly ignoring facts here, Marquez is moving 1 division and a half up, not two divisions otherwise it wouldn't be a catchweight and they wouldn't have refused a fight at 147.
For some reason when I opened this thread I thought that it said OFF, so for a split second I was happy. I dont think that Mora is a horrible fighter but Pavlik did just have a easy touch he should really be fighting a better fighter this time out.
Pavlik is really coming back strong from his first beatdown. Taking on one bad ass after another. This fight will probably be $69.95. Time to get out the credit card for the (chump) Champ!!!
Top Rank PPV!?!? Arum gets on my damn nerves!! Hes got Pavilk fighting cupcakes, Clottey on the shelf for almost a year, and is talkin about a Pac-Cotto fight expect for what the boxing world and casual fans want in Pac-PBF!!! There not gonna get buys when you can watch a double header on HBO with John-Juarez and Oritz-Medina which should be a slugfest. I'll be there, screw Arum
