I'm in the middle on this one and I am a fan of Pavlik. I will accept the article as truth. That being said, I am not impressed with how the Pavlik camp has handled this situation at all. The article is too little too late to not accept full responsiblility of being negligent in dealing with the his staph infection.

Correct me on the following if I'm missing something because I do not like to talk **** about people if it's not true: He got the staph Feb. or March. IMO, right then and there his Doctors, he and his team should have said, hold everything until this serious infrection is completely gone, no if's, and's, or but's. Instead of being responsible and concentrating on licking the staph, they decided to hedge, by negotiating and signing a deal to fight Williams, not once but twice. This is complete disrespect for the livelyhood of boxers in general and team Williams in particular, especially after team Pavs. vow pertaining to his bronchitis right after the Hopkins fight. To paraphrase team Pavlik, "Kelly will not fight unless he is 100% healthy."

That being said, I wish a quick and full recovery for Pav., and I also expect team Pav. to negotiate his next fight only after he's fully recovered. If I were his next opponent, prior to negotiation, I'd demand Pavlik be subject to a physical by a respected 3rd party Dr.

 

He hurt the hand training for Rubio. I just didn't heal. It was much later they discovered it was staph. The doctor's in Ytown didn't seem to handle the situation so he went to Cleveland Clinic. They doctors their told him he should be good to go for training in October. Well, they were right in so much as the staph infection was cured, but his hand was in a cast and when he got it out he had trouble making a fist. I think that was not anticipated. Some of the stuff I read indicated flexibility wasn't a problem prior to the treatment at the clinic when it went into the cast.

 

Funny, the same people that are calling Pavlik names are the very ones who took up for David Haye after Haye claimed back injury and ran from Vlad, then he ran from Vitali.

 

Thank's for the explanation. I'll enter it into the log, hope it's all a misunderstanding, and a speedy 100% recovery occurs.

1) When did the baseball game with all the puss take place?
2) So the staph infection is gone now?
3) It's a lot to ask here, but a timeline of all of the events would be helpful if you or anyone else has one

Infections like this can get extremely serious, since there are some versions floating around in the US among gyms (especially grappling) that are pretty aggressive and difficult to treat.

Bottom line is, he needs to contact the very top of the list of clinics and also the top of the research on that issue. I already posted the contact info twice.

And no, he should NOT continue fighting, not even training. If this spreads to the heart, it's over. The frequently occuring death among top pro athlets in the last couple of years speaks volumes about that, when said athlet think "hey it's just some cold, I can keep training and competing" - and then die at 23 from a heart failure due to pericarditis.
