Interesting article. His manager talks about the economy woes, and how it's erroding purses. He then says Kelly is not going to take a paycut. So I guess only his opponents are supposed to feel the effects of the slumping economy. I wonder why he can't get any credible opponent to agree on a purse figure.

The scene is reporting that Pavlik-Williams is more or less a done deal.

Man I love both these guys. Youre right, Williams gets alot of respect for this, jumping 2 weight classes to fight the undisputed middleweight champion! Still I hate to see williams lose cuz thats whats gonna happen.

Does that mean that we have seen the last of Paul Williams at welterweight?

Agreed, but it's pretty much the fault of the Raul Marquez mandatory that Abraham can't fight him this year. So given that Pavlik can't fight Abraham ( for reasons that aren't Pavlik's fault ) who should Pavlik fight?

This is kind of said for Pavlik who is considered to be the future of American boxing and who is currently the recognized unified middleweight champion of the world. Funny; Pacman fought exactly 3 weeks later and already has a fight against Valero in November and Pavlik has nothing right now.

De La Hoya will not fight Pavlik.
Felix Sturm will not fight Pavlik.

And while I'm not sure about Slyvester. Sturm is contesting that Slyvester is his mandatory claiming that Randy Griffin was. If this argument is successful then he'll face a tomato can this fall and won't face Slyvester until well into next year.

Meanwhile Abraham-Pavlik is very loosely scheduled for January/February next year with both fighters hyping it up.

Oh yes. Isn't this the place that did a 'drive by' interview and jumped all over Arum for not signing Winky since Winky was willing to let Pavlik have "the lion's share". Credible stuff there.

Abraham has a mandatory. Not Kelly's fault.
