  1. how come kelly pavlik can make 2 title defences in two years and not be stripped. if it were anybody else they would of been stripped.Boxing bias at its most purest.

Agreed. How many weeks did Bradley last as a unified champ before the WBC issued their ultimatum about him dropping on of his belts? It's ridiculous.

He fought a contractually required rematch with Taylor.
    Disposed of a mandatory.
    Fought Hopkins
    Disposed of another mandatory.
Has a fight scheduled for October 3rd.

Why the **** would anyone even consider stripping him. In the last 3 calendar years he has fought 9 times.

Bradley didn't even get the option of scheduling a mandatory when he held the same two belts. The sanctioning bodies make it up as they go along.

Don't fret, I can see him making mandatory's for a long time. No big fight for Kelly at 160 for a long time.

Close thread. He's fought his mandatories, he keeps his belts. Them's the rules.

Bradley got stripped because he didn't want to jump right into facing Devon Alexander, who was his mandatory.

    Williams is a welterweight.

Winky turned down a nice payday, and fought Williams for less money.

Abraham is currently scheduled to fight two-time Pavlik victim Jermain Taylor, a man who lost 3 of his last 4 fights. He never wanted any part of Pavlik.

Sturm is one of 4 possible opponents for Oct 3rd. HBO low balled the fight, but if they can get the money right, it will happen.

Lockett was made a mandatory because he was an Enzo Calzaghe fighter, and Slappy Joe had spent 6 months calling Pavlik out. To bad Joe ran the other way after KP demolished his sparring partner.

Rubio earned the right to fight for the title. He won a legitimate eliminator. And Rubio would be a big step up compared to most of Abraham and Sturm's defenses.

He's still running now. I'd say KP retired him.

  13. HOW DO YOU FIGURE THAT ABRAHAM WANTED NO PART OF PAVLIK HE HAS BIN CALLIN HIM OUT FOR NI-ON 18 MONTHS.while pavliks in youngstown starin at a bottle of jackie d wondering how i all went wrong, ABRAHAM IS STEPPIN UP TO SUPER MIDDLE TO fight taylor, froch, kessler, ward & dirrell.props to jermain taylor cos he could of said no but the mans got balls he stepped up to the plate like a champion should. I tip my hat to him for that:happy.Lockett won the right to be mandatory for pavlik. williams can move up the board from 147 to 160 no doubt he already fought at 154. and winky wright is winky wright he does what he likes.

If Abraham/Sauerland wanted a fight with KP, how much did they offer him to fight in Germany? How much did they offer him for a fight in the USA? what was HBO's offer?

Abraham's first opponent in the tournament is Taylor. Pavlik already beat him twice in two different divisions. Abraham's 2nd opponent is Dirrell who is green as hell. His best win was Oganov, and Zuniga beat Oganov more conviningly than Dirrell did, and did it before Dirrell did. Dirrell will also most likely be coming off a loss to Froch. Abraham's 3rd opponent is Froch; a man who is so easy to hit he gets mad when you miss him.

You have to admit that Froch is a horrible style matchup for Abraham though. Higher workrate, decent chin, decent power, moves forward, decent accuracy. I've always maintained that a forward moving boxer-puncher would be Abraham's kryptonite, and Froch fits the profile.
