Don't get me wrong - it's a good trick. He's very good at what he does and is exciting to watch but to my eyes he's unexceptional.

He was getting outboxed for half the JT rematch and anyone who disputes that needs their eyes tested. I remember listening to the commentary, I think Ray Mancini was doing it, you could tell they were getting worried he was gonna lose.

He'll keeping ploughing through most opponents until he meets a foe like Winky or Calzaghe who will confuse him and limit the effectiveness of his pressure.

    Kelly Pavlik is a beast.

Great powerful jab. Beautiful straight right hands and an indomitable will.

Ya, he's a one trick pony all right.

    Funny.

Also add incredible stamina and near granite chin which makes his one trick much more effective and reliable. But i would have to agree that a guy like Winky could possibly outbox Pavlik.

Keep watching. He's the real deal. Maybe not an ATG but I think he's going to keep winning. He's not just a 1-2 guy, but it's his bread and butter and very successful with it. My biggest concern is his defense and he seems to be improving there too. He reminds me of Carlos Monzon, with a lesser defense but a bigger punch.

Explain how someone with a 'near granite chin' gets nearly ko'd by Jermaine Taylor?

Nothing wrong with basics if they work as well as Pavlik employs them

He got hit with a bunch of flush shots from a big, powerful MW with explosive power, that's why. He got careless and stuck his chin out. And despite all of that, he got back up and had his legs under him within 30 seconds and by the end of the round, he was already coming forward. And by the next round, he was taking control. So he was never really affected.

Plus, he took some haymakers from Miranda and Miranda hits about as hard as anyone.

    Exactly!

JT tried everything in his arsenal to take Pavlik out and he not only got back up, but recovered and had his legs under him before the round was over. That's saying a lot.

Why do people always question someones chin just because they were decked once or twice?

Do you know what its like to get bombed on?

Just because you get hurt or knocked down, doesn't mean you dont have a good chin.

Kelly Pavlik has at least a B+ chin and in my book, that is near granite.

    Punches hurt, period.

Um, 'questioning it' is at least as valid as labelling it granite or 'near-granite' or whatever based on the evidence so far.

I don't think we've seen nearly enough to make a firm judgement. I'm not the one making firm judgements though.

You are the one making ******ed judgements, thats all.

We have seen Kelly take bombs from Miranda and Taylor.

    Thats plenty of evidence.

Strong in this one the Pavlik-love is.

Jesus, we're not even allowed to say that maybe one fight against Miranda and two against Taylor aren't enough evidence to make be all and end all judgements about someone's abilities now?!

You are free to say what you feel Yoda.

But when it doesn't really make sense, expect a response.

I just don't know what would be enough evidence for you.

Does he need to take shots from Abraham and Kessler for you to feel better about his near granite chin?

I like how everyone on this board liked to talk about how powerful Miranda was, or even is. And then they like to discredit Kelly's chin. Put two and two together you idiots. Pavlik was hit with many flush shots from Miranda and walked through them, it was Miranda who was knocked out.

I think you who think Pavlik has a weak chin should do a little experiment, Stick your chin out to Jermaine Taylor and let him whale on you and see if you stay on your feet.
