Calzaghe will be regretting he never took on Pavlik.

As somebody said the hype around Pavlik was unreal at one point, when somebody who could move was alway's going to take him to bit's. Now Hopkins is reaping the rewards for "detroying" Pavlik's career when it could of been Calzaghe.

Based on their last showings, I reckon Taylor would beat Pavlik now. Assuming his punch resistance hasn't completely vanished.

What the **** ... Calzaghe would have no regrets at all from not taking on Pavlik... JC was an undefeated champion in his own right and beat Hopkins ! ... Calzaghe never needed Pavlik

He means it's become painfully obvious Calzaghe would have boxed his ears off, and if he'd taken that fight before the the shine completley came off Pavlik he could have gone into retirement with another handsome payday and being the man who knocked the next American superstar down a few pegs. In 2008 it looked like a very risky fight. It'd most likely have been easy work and would have look good on the resume.

I think aside from Pavliks obvious problems of being pretty unimaginative in the ring and having amateurs in his corner what's really done for him has been the knocking down of his confidence after Hopkins beat him. Here's a guy who was so led by the hand throughout his career as soon as he found out he wasn't the indestructable punching machine he thought he was he completely went to pieces. Even in his target practice rehab fights he never looked the same as he didn against Taylor and Miranda.
