It may seem unfair that the person that is getting knocked down could absolutely school the opponent the whole round, then lose two points due to a knock down. However, you have to remember that the downed fighter gets a ten count, time to recover, and the opponent cannot hit them while they are down. If the fight continued after the knock down with no count, a lot of fights would end there and then because the downed opponent will be on the ground stunned whilst the attacker just lays into them.
