This mornings local rag. I think the PPV was $44.95. Since I'm hoping to score tickets, I didn't pay real close attention. Well, that and I don't even get cable.... http://www.vindy.com/news/2009/jan/07/hot-item-pavlik-fight-tickets/
Remember, they are footing the entire bill for this WITHOUT HBO support. I doubt the gate covers expenses. It ain't cheap to do a TV broadcast.
Define fail. They need to cover expenses including the tv production costs, paying the fighters, the venues... etc.... I don't think they are looking to make a killing here.
wow after getting embarrassed by a 43 year old fighter they expect us to see him fight some guy for 45$?! GTFO
I won't claim to know all that is involved, but you think Arum didn't think of that? He has been saying for a while that especially in this economy, the boxing dollars just aren't what they used to be.
Dude, Vargas fought on free TV. Even DLH fought Forbes at the Home Depot center on a NON PPV fight. It can be done.
Pavlik and Cotto on the same card. Split the cost with two freinds or family members. That's less than $15.00 each. Sounds like a bargain to me.
Two names fighting for titles. Reports indicate it could be a good under card also. But, people vote with dollars, so we shall see. I have NO idea what number of PPV's would make this a success in Arum's view.
