That's a distinct possibility. But at the same time, Winky stood in front of Taylor and took his best shots and was never hurt.

Before Pavlik/JT 2, i would've thought Pavlik destroys Winky. But after that fight, i'm not so sure. When JT actually used his talents the right way, he nearly pulled out a UD. And Winky is the superior boxer with much better defense over JT. At 160, i think Winky has a great shot at a UD. That is if he can avoid getting hurt.

What, is he afraid of getting defensed to death?

I highly doubt any pro fighter out there is really scared of Winky and his devastating earmuffs.

Kelly doesn't have a contract with HBO. JT took him the distance, having won, lost, or draw is debatable. The same version of JT who took Winky the distance was the one who got KTFO by Pavlik.

Kelly has to fight a mandatory or risk losing the belts. Winky knows this, so it is easy for him to throw all the money in the world at Kelly. Lets see where Winky's at after Kelly's first defense. Kelly is willing to fight all comers. Winky will get walked down and his defense will get penetrated, ending in a KO.

Yeah man, I think he was implying that he COULDN'T lose the fight. And I think that Cotto and Floyd are ahead of him on the list of the posterchildren of HBO.

I agree that HBO could make a fortune off of him, but Arum is holding out from signing with just any one company. I realize HBO boxing is far more superior to Showtime, again, Arum has publically stated he is not opposed to fighting on Showtime. If Kelly does this, he will quickly become the *******-child of HBO. It is a business.

    Good lord you're a loser.

How do you fight real life in when internet jokes are life and death emergencies?

    Dumb ****.

I'm hearing the offer, but how much?

Is it an offer that would cause this thread?

I don't know if Pavlik is running, if the dollars aren't being mentioned.

Does anyone know what Pavlik actually SAID about fighting Winky? He said; "I'd love to fight a smaller guy who doesn't hit very hard." One quick glance at Pavlik's resume makes it pretty clear that Kelly is not ducking Winky!

Pavlik TKO9 Zuniga. Had an 87% KO ratio at the time Pavlik fought him, and is the current IBO SMW champion.

Pavlik TKO6 McKart. 2 time former world titlist, and went 32 rounds with Winky.

Pavlik KO4 Pierre. Tough SMW with respectable KO ratio.

Pavlik KO8 Zertuche. Genuine bad ass until Pavlik ruined him.

Pavlik KO7 Miranda. This was the guy who was suppose to take over at 160, but as we all know Pavlik changed that in devastating fashion.

Pavlik KO7 Taylor. Undefeated and universally recognized MW champion until he got Pavlikated.

Pavlik UD12 Taylor in a 12 round barn burner; possibly the best fight of Taylor's career.

The idea that Pavlik is ducking Winky is simply ludicrous. A comparison of common opponents does not always lead to good conclusions about the outcome of a fight, but in this instance we have two common opponents with a total of 6 fights. If you consider how Winky handled McKart and Taylor compared to how Pavlik handled them, you can only draw one conclusion. Winky gets his ass handed to him against Pavlik! Winky would not knock Pavlik out; if he took Taylor and Miranda's best shots, Winky won't even be able to buy a blink. In addition McKart and JT both backed Winky up at times. If those guys backed Wright up AT TIMES, Pavlik would back him up all night long. That means a 36 year old version of Winky Wright, fighting above his best weight, would have to win 7 rounds while fighting off the back foot, and avoiding Pavlik's right hand for 12 rounds. That is no more than a VERY remote possibility. I'd pick Pavlik to close the show in 10 or 11 rounds.

Winky's just coming off a loss -- he and Taylor should hook up at 168 in a title eliminator.

I think Pavlik should get on with his career w/o all the bull****. He just won the championship and hasn't defend it yet --

Winky hasn't proven that he deserves another title shot as of yet and Pavlik shouldn't be concerned w/ boxing politics.

It may be a bad fight for Pavlik stylistically but that can be pretty much said for anyone that fights Winky.

It's high risk and high reward. They are offering Pavlik his highest payday and allows Pavlik to add a person who is still in many people's P4P list. So u can't really say its a bad business move.

Hmm... Interesting assumption. That would mean that Pavlk won the boxing match which goes counter to what most folks are saying about him being a 'one dimensional slugger'. Yet most of the same folks praise BHop and Winky for their boxing abilities and claim that would be the difference if Winky fights Pavlik. I really have trouble understanding the logic..... :rofl

Pavlik's boxing skills are generally under-rated. His KO ratio is extremely high, and he likes to come forward while throwing a lot of leather. He is extremely adept at putting an opponent on the ropes, and turning the ring into a phone booth. However, he is not the crude slugger that many fans seem to think he is. His defense is somewhat leaky, but the fact remains, he has only been in serious trouble once in his career, and that was when he clowned JT. He has never been the one who left the ring all cut-up with his eyes swelled shut. He is not on the level with history's best, but his boxing skills are pretty damn good. It will take a lot more than a 36 year old Winky wright to take that zero off his record.

KP has always claimed he gets hit less than folks think. I think he is willing to take some shots because they aren't damaging. Certainly not enough to deter him from his coming forward.

Which brings up another interesting point. I DOUBT he will change his style much, but, it is up to the challanger to bring the fight if he wants to take the belt. Could you see Kelly going into counter punch mode?
