Obviously you don't understand the role of style in boxing. Hopkins didn't perform any different against Pavlik than he has done previously. The difference was his opponent. Pavlik is like Wladimir Klitschko, he has a problem dealing with lateral movement. That is an integral feature of Hopkins style, and that was why Hopkins found it so easy to hit Pavlik. Unlike Klitschko, he doesn't tend to be faster than his opponents, which made it even easier for Hopkins to hit Pavlik. Hopkins has a problem with speed, that is why he had so much trouble with Calzaghe. He performed as well against Calzaghe as he did against Pavlik, but the differing outcome was determined by his opponent.
