It's very unusual for Pavlik to talk trash about other fighters. Winky Wright seems to be the exception. About a month ago someone ask Pavlik about Winky, and he said, "After fighting Miranda, and then Taylor twice, I'd love to fight a smaller guy that can't hit very hard." The other day Pavlik said; “We called out Winky Wright a couple hundred times and now that he can’t get the big fights and his career’s petering out, he wants to fight me all of the sudden. There’s a guy I’d love to smack around a little bit.”

I bet ya this fight happens by the end of '08!

I love it!! Cool to finally hear Kelly open up and talk a little "clean" smack for once. Bring on Winky, I would love to see his scalp on the Pavlik collection.

I think Pavlik should stay away from Winky, the guy is a nightmare to fight, even a old Winky could give a tough fighter trouble in the ring, his defense is top notch, Pavliks high workrate might be the only thing that wins this fight for him. I think Pavlik should try and gun for Jones or the winner Dawson/Johnson.

    Hope to god this happens.

I've considered starting a petition to see it happen.

    Pavlik/Winky

    Pavlik/Abraham

Those are really the only important fights at 160 right now.

Yep Winky and Abraham are the only options that matter for Pavlik at 160 right now.

Winky's a tough proposition for anyone, but Pavlik should be the favorite.

He'll simply outwork this version of Winky. Doubt there would be a ko though.

I'd like to see Pavlik/Winky this year.

It does seem so for now. Hopefully some dudes will step up their games and make the division hot again. I had been wondering about Lorenzo, until I learned there earlier JUST HOW BAD his competition really had been. Last 6 opponents 55 losses!!:verysad

What is up with Winky? When is this guy going to fight again? Is he waiting for Pavlik? If so, he has to wait until late fall right? He should just get a tune up.

I've said all along it would be funny if Pavlik used his perogative as champ to 'defend'. Make Winky come to him and 'take' the belt. We know Pavlik has a sense of humor. I could see him standing in his corner, pointing at the belt and waving Winky to come forward to take it.

Until he decided to start smacking him around. Then it gets ugly.

If you do, I'll sign it. This is the kind of fight we all want to see. The best fighting the best.

I agree. Winky is a tough nut for anyone to crack.

Here are some interesting facts to consider when thinking about Pavlik/Wright.

    1) Winky has now conceeded that he is not big enough to fight above 160. Pavlik has fought above the middleweight limit 13 times. His last fight was at 166, and he has gone as high as 170. I think that illustrates the real size difference fairly well.

    2) Pavlik backed Miranda up all night. Could Winky do that? I doubt it. The physical strength advantage goes to pavlik, and that is not even debatable.

    3) Common opponents: This is not always the best way to arrive at a solid analysis, but in this case we have two common opponents, and a total of 7 fights. Winky went 32 rounds with Bronco McKart, and it probably would have been 36 if not for the DQ in their 3rd meeting. Pavlik starched McKart in under 6 rounds. The best winky could do against Taylor was a draw, and he turned down a rematch. Pavlik took him out in under 7 rounds, and then beat him by a UD.

    4) By the time this fight could be made Winky will be 37 years old. Pavlik will be 26.

The only advantages I see going to Wright are defense and big fight experience. Everthing else goes to pavlik. I think Pavlik would hand Winky his first ever KO loss in 10-11 rounds.

I'll sign it too. I want to see Winky/Pavlik.

Before JT/Pavlik 2, i thought Pavlik would run over Winky but i'm not so sure. Winky's a much better boxer than JT and JT gave Pavlik some trouble.

This is probably the most meaningful fight to be made at 160.
