Winky went 12 rounds with the Living Legend. That will take its toll on just about any fighter.

Well, I dont know how much Winky got in the tank, but it wouldnt be like him to trade punches with known puncher like Pavlik, he would stick to the plan and play defense, waiting for Pavlik to gas a little bit, to let out a flury or two to win the round. His fights with Hopkins and Taylor were both close, the reason he lost the Hopkins fight is because he deviated away from his plan after Hopkins starting get rough with him, after 6 rounds I had Winky ahead, and it was only during the championship rounds did Hopkins take control IMO.

Pavlik/Winky is really a 50/50 for me, as was Hopkins/Winky. If Pavlik doesnt get frustrated or wing too many punches, he will win, but if Winky stays with his plan and lets Pavlik punch away at his gloves, and counters him on the ropes and catches him with decent flurries, he may just win the decision in the end.

It's not like he took a beating and wasn't competitive.

Pavlik will smash Wright in 5 or less.

Not looking ahead past Lockett, but in your opinion, who do you think KP will fight after this June bout?

    I seriously doubt that.

I saw it differently. Winky did what he always does. Come forward and pump the jab and right hook and put that guard up. Problem is, Hopkins kept making him chase. And the extra weight played a roll. Hopkins made him look bad. But he did try to fight his fight. He was just outclassed.

I thought Hopkins dominated Winky in terms of landing the harder shots and making him miss. He outboxed him clearly although the compubox numbers won't tell you that. Winky had NOTHING on his punches.

I wouldn't have said this last week, but Calzaghe is looming large.

You right. Realistically, we're looking at round 9 or 10 rounds before WW decides he's eaten enough leather for one night. And I'm a Winky fan.

    So is Trinidad!

If Winky were to be stopped it would definately be a late round stoppage. I would favor Pavlik to win this fight via decision, a late round stoppage isn't out of the question. A stoppage by round 5 or earlier is pure fantasy.

But at the same time, will Pavlik land on Winky? Even with JT's improved boxing, Pavlik had some trouble connecting. Winky is a much better boxer than JT. That's why i want to see how this fight plays out.

Let's not forget, Winky took JT's best shots and kept coming forward. Granted i don't think JT landed one flush right hand but Winky's a tough cookie. He's got heart and he doesn't back down.
