:adminPavliks status is ALIVE I've waited for this. Dan Raphael saying Pavlik had Bronchitis. What I do know about Bronchitis is that it's very peculiar you "dont feel unwinded" but have lesser strength or endurance. This feels good!

There's personally never been a doubt Pavlik was different on that night. hop always looks brilliant an "I mean it" If a fight slows down he looks very close to that many times in his fights.:hi:
    When I made the thread.!!

I'd like to say I meant "don't feel winded" [and not unwinded] I apologize.

if it wasn't for the bronchitis and left elbow injury, I bet Pavlik loses like 116-112 , it would have been a better fight.

not trying to make excuses for Pavlik, they are both 2 of my favorite fighters.

The bronchitis and elbow injury were well known long before the fat man said anything.

By what measure? What could he have done differently? He just didn't have a gameplan, you don't bully Bernard Hopkins around like he did in his other fights. It was just a bad style match-up and he took on a better fighter.

U still got to wonder what a healthy pavlik could of did. Could he have come close to knocking Bernard out? Plus the added weight did not help Pavlik in his condition. But, still what a performance by Bernard!:good

The MEasure that he was much to slow to employ any gameplan .... screw a gameplan if you don't even have the normal pop on your punches .

Diarrhea, elbow injuries, bronchitis or whatever else, he would have still lost to Hopkins. His inability to deal with Hopkins' lateral movement proved to be the problem. There was no answer to it. He didn't land on Hopkins to make his 'pop' or strength matter.

I don't wonder about this at all. Pavlik would have be concerned with actually landing a punch on Hopkins before he could even dream of knocking him out.

It's terrible about all of these after-the-fact excuses, because I am a Pavlik fan. Hopkins put on a masterclass, and it has nothing to do with bronchitis. If Pavlik didn't feel fit to fight, he wouldn't have been in the ring.

Some of you guys are totally full of ****. No version of Pavlik competes with Hopkins, Hopkins is a stylistic nightmare for Pavlik. He simply has none of the necessary tools and ability to beat a fighter as skilled as Hopkins.

He would've doubled up his jab, obviously.

That's the masterplan that can beat anyone, don't you know.

According to Jack Loew , all Pavlik ever needs to do in any situation is double jab.... the guy is a club quality trainer with a world class boxer

In the aftermath of the Hopkin's fight I was one of the first fans to jump on the "dump Jack Leow" band wagon. When the full information about the elbow injury and the bronchitis came to light, I changed my position. There was nothing Jack or anyone else could do or say to improve Kelly's performance that night.

For those who think Hopkins would have got the same fighter if Kelly was at 100%, I have to question how many of you have actually competed in any form of combat sports. As a former amature boxer and wrestler, I will tell you, without apology, that even a mild head cold effects your performance. A 10% difference in ability is often the difference between champions and contenders. Why would a 10% reduction in ability be any different in one particular fight? Common sense says it would not.

We often see camera angles that show a very animated Jack screaming "double the ****ing jab." However, the reason we see that is because an animated trainer yelling at his fighter makes good TV. To assume that we see and hear everything that goes on in the corner is pure foolishness.

As a long time Pavlik fan, I cannot count the number of times I've heard and seen Leow get on Kelly's ass about a variety of things. If his work rate starts dropping, Jack is on him to pick up the pace. If Kelly so much as looks like he's letting his hands come down, Leow is on him, "Don't get lazy on me. Keep your ****ing hands up!" The list goes on and on.

People seem to be forgetting that this is the same trainer that formulated the rather audacious plan to just run over Miranda. He's the same trainer who told Kelly "this is a basic ****in' fight with this kid .... jab-right-hand, simple." That was Pavlik/Taylor I. This is still the same guy who honed Kelly's skills to the point where, in the Taylor rematch, he could go jab for jab with one of the fastest guys around his weight, and ultimately score a UD over him.

Jack Leow raise Kelly from a child to a champion. Miguel Diaz has been with Kelly since his very first pro fight. They are a great team. Fighting Hopkins at 170 while sick and injured, and losing, does not indicate a need for any kind of significant change. It only indicates that on this one particular occasion KP did his thinking with his balls instead of his brain, and Jack and Miguel were unable to change his mind.
