I don't care to make a list of Pavlik supporters, as I am one of them. What I am doing here is not an effort to discredit Pavlik, as I am a big fan of his. It is just simply astonishing to me to hear people overplaying these factors that really only became after-the-fact defenses of Pavlik. I'm not convinced of him having been afflicted by all these maladies to begin with.

Pavlik's expression and demeanor after the fight were dejection and sadness, not anger at having felt there were extraneous factors impacting him. He accepted Hopkins' words to him afterwards graciously and had no excuses, then afterwards we hear about these problems that prevented him from fighting properly? No, I don't buy it. A healthy Pavlik wins no more than three rounds, and that's pushing it. Hopkins has his number. It was signed, sealed, and delivered that night by the Executioner.

Hopkins vs. Calzaghe was one sided? Alright, that's my cue to spot the troll and we're done debating the issue. Adios.

The fact that Kelly did not whine and ***** after the fight does not mean the problems weren't there. It just means he manned up, and refused to play the *****. NONE of this information would have ever seen the light of day if Team Pavlik had not allowed Thomas Hauser into the locker room before and after the fight. ****! They even lied to Arum. Once the Hauser article came out Team Pavlik could no longer keep things under wraps.

You're saying he might have won 3 rounds. I think he would have won 4 rounds. I've said all along that we would have seen a good fight that would have ended 116-112 BHop, so we're really not that far apart.

To assume that doctors prescribed mediaction that was not needed, and that KP went through physical therapy he didn't need, and that Thomas Hauser was making things up, is ludicrous, but that is the position one must take in order to deny that there were problems leading up to the fight.

Boo. The reason I stayed out of this thread, it was obvious from the beginning it was filling with boxing experts with all of the inside information and I knew I'd be out of my league. :nut

Three rounds is the most I can see Pavlik mustering on his best day, and that's if Hopkins takes rounds off. Pavlik had zero in that fight against Hopkins, and I'm not buying all of this about him being near-crippled by ailments.

Whoever truly believes that Pavlik fought with Bronchitis is a moron of the highest order. There is no chance a fighter can go 12 rounds with Bronchitis on fight night. None whatsoever.

If he had Bronchitis weeks before the fight, and he missed camp as a result, and was therefore in sub-optimal condition, fine. He did tweak his elbow weeks before the fight, and that may have hampered him as well.

But to say Pavlik fought with Bronchitis of any degree is absurd.

So you're saying that Thomas Hauser, one of boxings most repected journalists, is just making **** up? Are you also saying that doctors risked their licenses by falsifying medical records and prescribing unessassary medications?:patsch

Sorry scooter, but if that is your position, there is definitely a moron in this scenario. Can ya guess who it is?

I've heard the Pavlik interviews and the Hauser statement, and I know Hauser wouldnt risk his license for Pavlik. But I wish I knew more specifics, like exactly when did he get sick & when did the elbow injury occur, you know.

Okay -- I get ya -- you mean like exact dates, et, et. We'll never have those details, but **** it, it's one loss in 35 fights. Time to move on.

However, I do hope KP takes two lessons away from this. 1) If you're sick or injured, screw the fans, postpone. We're not the ones climbing in the ring to get hit in the face!! 2) Stop chasing the money, and accept the fact that never every fight will produce a huge pay day. Arum offered KP $1 mill to fight Rubio on a Top Rank produced ppv BEFORE they even talked to BHop. Kelly made $2.5 mill for Lockett, so he turned Arum's offer down, and ask for something that would pay more. He got his ass whopped, and now he's fighting Rubio for less than the initial offer.
