The revisionist historians would have us believe Pavlik belonged in a hospital before the fight given his condition, and not in the ring.

He lost, dude. But, he lives to fight another day. Losing your "0" is so over-rated these days. One loss can not define a career. That's what is great about boxing. U win some, u lose some. But, u can always come back stronger and win again.

Couldn't have put it better myself. It is simply damage control, the elbow issue was minor and Pavlik was in usual shape going into the fight. It isn't often a decent champion gets embarrassed that badly, so obviously his team need to attempt to reduce the loss of reputation and pulling power of their fighter. Hopkins could fight Pavlik on any single day of the year and Pavlik would not win more than 3 rounds.

But what i mainly agree with is your reference to his interview, he wasn't angry about hit alleged temporary phsyical limitations, and he was trying to make excuses for his performance, so if he wasn't in good physical shape, he would have said so. Instead, it was a sad picture, he looked like a kid who had gotten into something out of their depth, and despite all the confidence in the world, couldn't compete. He was completely and utterly dumbfounded by Hopkins tactics. That is all there is to it.

I take it Pavlik doesn't know the meaning of the word postpone?
I hate it when people start making excuses for fighters, especially when the fighters themselves don't. Whether he would have beat Hopkins or not is irrelevant to me. Fact is if your feeling ****, postpone, it's simple.

If he wants to put his career, record or body on the line because of pride, money or a title then that’s his Prerogative. But I for one don't want to hear either the boxer or the fans bitching and crying afterwards because of it.

A grown man takes responsibility for his own actions.

absolutely MINDBOGGLING to think that people actually think that it is not a disadvantage to fight with an elbow injury and ****ing BRONCHITIS...like it would have been the same thing...he would have threw more punches...been stronger than he was...not hard to figure out...he most likely would not have won but lets get real here....that being said...props to bhop...he fought the guy in front of him and smoked him

lol...if he had bronchitis a week before the fight that is FINE??? lol...it is KP's fault for fighting but u act as if missing 2-3 weeks of camp and still feeling affects of being sick and having an elbow injury means nothing....the fact is KP did get physical therapy and he did take maeds for bronchitis...and he never leaked it...so run with it from there

I did and you're right, he was humble and accepted the defeat. As he kept saying, he couldn't get his shots off. I was wrong.

Maybe it was the name 'Hopkins' and all the bitching about Calzaghe from him and his fans that I got confused with :p

I just rewatched a small portion of Hopkins/Pavlik, and something Nazim Richardson said made me laugh outloud.

After the 9th round Richardson said; "Ya gotta keep choppin'. This dude is takin' an ass whoopin', but that don't mean **** to him. He learned to fight by takin' ass whoopin's. Ya gotta keep choppin." BHop and his dream team are probably the first crew who did not underestimate KP.

Another thing I noticed is that we don't give BHop enough credit for his beautiful footwork. We've all focused on how Hops stayed away from the right hand by moving to Kelly's left. However, there are points where KP stepped left exactly like he should have, and BHop just slid away the other direction. Simply amazing!
