I like Pavlik too. If hes going to be drained he needs to move up.

Since he's staying at 160, why is Pavlik not taking his rematch with Martinez? There was a rematch clause in the contract. Sergio doesn't have a fight coming up.

    :think

again, I agree. to me 160 is do much of a drain AND strain on his system.... I want to know who is advising him to be 160? IMO not a good move

Maybe he should join you in Austria for a while to get his nutrition in line. :D

Definitely not a good move. Probably Arum is telling him to stay there.

He is still looking at getting a nutritionist to see if it is feasible. He'll probably find one that will say yes just for the paycheck is my concern. That said, he is better off at 160 if he can take the muscle off he put on before the Martinez fight.

boxing behind the scenes is the dirtiest, scummiest, most thieving and most backstabbing business around. Who knows why they wont fight? Could be a million different reasons

he looked drained to me. I say move up and keep the muscle and be comfortable.

although. having a chef/Nutr will help as he wont (shouldnt) have to lose at the last minute and then go through major rehydration... that should help tremendously with the "drained" feeling :good

The deadline for the Martinez bout passed with Kelly having no intention of returning to 160. Arum has other plans. Rumor is that Roach and Arum think Kelly is shot and want to use him as a stepping stone for Chavez. I'm guessing Arum pulled out his checkbook to interest Kelly in staying at 160 even though it may not be in Kelly's best interest.

That said, if Kelly can reset his natural balance point (very hard to do) 160 is still a good weight for him.

Spot on about behind the scenes, but I don't think there is anything sinister going on. Pavlik blew up to 192 pounds from to much unsupervised weight lifting ( that **** can become almost an addiction. If you've ever been into it, you know exactly what I'm talking about. )

KP had 60 days to exercise his rematch clause, but right after the Martinez fight his weight jumped back up to 187 or something close to that within 10 days.

Now he's back at 178 which is very close to the old normal walking around weight. He did that on his own. He probably feels that with the proper guidance he can still make 160 safely, but there is a lot of uncertainty. So, a relatively safe opponent to test the waters.

Same here. I do know a few things that I can't divulge. Not that I would anyhow because people here don't know the difference between reason/excuse.

Yeah, I agree. I'm pretty sure Pav will never fight Bute, Ward, or Dirrell. At least not until one of them loses (Dirrell's "loss" to Froch notwithstanding) first.

I would love to see a Pav-Bute fight. Bute is good, but he's vulnerable in the chin department. If Pav is as murderous of a puncher as he's been billed to be, then he "should" have a pretty good chance. Too bad we'll never see it.

Ward and Dirrell are terrible style matchups for Pavlik.
