Love to see this fight. I think we've all wanted the Abraham-Pavlik fight for some time now. Just a shame that it probably won't happen this year, but things change all the time in boxing so we'll see how it turns out.

TomT. Can you substantiate that figure? I know that was what he was offered to fight Pavlik. Never heard AA offered him that much.

Yes, I heard about it via Dan Rafael on one of his chats and SE indirectly confirmed it (though, without mentioning the purse).

It was just said that HBO wanted to buyout of the Winky deal (Wright was going to sue HBO if not for a fight which would make him at least $1.5 million) and SE said that if there isn't much more to pay for (plus a televised fight on HBO for AA), they would agree to this deal. Though, Winky had other ideas and didn't want to go to Germany...although he won all of his previous fights there...

When was the last time Pavlik left a mushroom cloud?

If I was high on Pavlik a year ago that personal rating dropped about a half dozen notches after Bernard Hopkins systematically undressed him and licked him like a stamp.

Then came Rubio.....and Pavlik has AGAIN dropped yet another notch by my count.

Not only was it not a fight, Pavlik squared-up far too many times during it, demostrating zero improvement since last October. In the eighth when Rubio was hurt and against the ropes, Pavlik again astounded those in the know by squaring up in a poor attempt to finish his foe. Has he pivoted to to one side or another and made the same attempt from an angle, he might have found or been able to create an opening.

From what I have seen from Pavlik dating back to his rematch with Taylor, I believe Abraham comfortably outpoints him. This guy is just not developing and his faults - especially his defense, are glaring.

Are we all forgetting that Arum said he wanted Kelly to fight 3 more times this year. The next fight being in May. If that’s the case then a fight with Duddy next wouldn’t be so bad for Kelly. His following fight would have to be AA or Williams/Wright winner.

I was not thrilled to see Loew's only advice is to use the double jab still.

I agree. Especially if Abraham sits on the ropes and waits to counter which is what he does every fight. He will be worse off than just a broken jaw.
