Ronald Hearns vs. Juan Astorga [154 prospects] Cristian Mijares (C) vs. Jose Navarro [WBC 115 title] Fernando Montiel (C) vs. Martin Castillo [WBO 115 title] Kelly Pavlik (C) vs. Jermain Taylor [WBC, WBO, Ring, linear 160 title] TV: HBO PPV In other news, Arum said that Juan Manuel Lopez backed out of a fight with fellow 122-lbs. prospect Bernabe Concepcion (also a Top Rank fighter). Thoughts?
This pay per view has an all-star cast but the matchup are so so imo.. Not very impressed. Kelly/Taylor and Castillo/montiel are even fights but not the other two. Hearns VS astola who??? and Mijares is going to beat navarro easily.. Pretty decent card but nothing mind boggling.
Are you serious? That undercard beats this undercard by far: Francisco Bojado vs. Steve Forbes [non-title] Yusuf Mack vs. Librado Andrade [non-title] Steven Luevano (C) vs. Antonio Davis [WBO 126]
The undercard above was for Pacquiao-Barrera II. An absolute piece of garbage one, if I might add, if one had to pay more than $50 to see that.
Hmm let's see.. Think about the 90s KG when Don King provided pay per views that were stacked from top to bottom.. Yea I know I know, times have changed and it's unrealistic demand but even last year, Barrera/Juarez 2 was freakin crazy. That card sure took me back to the old days.. Barrera/juarez 2, Gonzales/Vasquez, and Barrios/Guzman... Now this I would call a very good pay per view.. Pavlik/Taylor is a good card in today's standards and that just shows how far this sport has fallen down.
The 90's are long gone. And Barrera/Juarez wasn't exactly a blockbuster fight. Juarez only had a name from fighting close to Barrera in the first fight, and was otherwise a non entity. I think this card compares favorably to that.
Barrera/juares wasn't big as Taylor/pavlik but it was a significant fight nevertheless. It may not have been a blockbuster fight like u said but the quality of the matchup itself was top notch. Many people felt that Juarez got jobbed in the first fight so many were looking foward to the rematch and it was a 50/50 fight.. Guzman/Barrios was another good fight because it was Guzman's first real step up and it was for the WBO title. Another evenly matched fight. And we all know what happend in the Gonzales fight. They couldn't have been matched up better. You have your opinion and that's cool but I don't know how u can compare this one to Barrer/Juarez show.
awesome, thats one hell of a card. the winners of montiel-castillo & mijares-navarro are expected to fight each other correct? if so, a 115 eliminator is exactly what i've been dreaming of since last year:happy. i would have preferred mijares take on kirilov, munoz or even z gorres, but navarro is a solid test none the less. castillo-montiel is what i'm looking forward to.
