I could not believe how bad the commentators were. One of them was punch drunk, and the other one was just a bit too camp for my liking.
Setanta do the absolute bare minimum they can possibly get away with.

Claypole, thats exactly what I thought. He sounded like a right 'one'...camp as a row of tents.

The other guy was Ray Mancini, did you catch the bit where he said he thought Pavlik may tire in the 3rd half of the fight???

Well, I havent read the general forum yet, but did anyone else from these shores think that Taylor did enough to win that fight? Or was it just me?

I remember Ray Mancini. The only bits I could make out were "believe me" and "Let me tell ya"
I reckon they got the other guy from a hair salon in L.A. Truth is, it was still better than Bunce grunting and groaning.

I thought it was a hard fight to score. Taylor threw better looking punches, and a fair few of them. Was it enough though? I Not for me, but if Taylor got the decision it wouldn't be the worst call ever.

Depends how you scored the aggression, there were quite a few 10/10 rounds that would have been given to Pavlik based purely on coming forward.

Yep, thats what I'm saying. It wasn't 'effective aggression' but it may have been better than no aggression in the judges eyes?

Thats the thing, I thought Taylor was excellent. great jab, lightning left hook exploding on Pavliks face time & again, nice bodywork, whilst pavlik was walking forward & doing well with his jab, but not much else. Pavlik was methodical & does exactly what it says on the tin.

But Taylor aprt from when he got caught with a beautiful right to the solar plexus in the 11th I thought out thought a determined but limited Pavlik.
I normally favour the aggressor in fights, but Taylor IMO did more than enough to edge a points decision.

I'd had a few... was there really bizzare scoring on one undercard fight?

    Found it. The Mijares fight.

One judge had it 120-108 Navarro. The other 2 judges had it 117-111 & 115-113 MIjares

    wtf?

The boxing writer Mike Katz was supposed to have said that the scoring was the worst he had ever seen in all his years in the sport. I didnt see the fight myself.

Was away over the weekend so haven't seen the fight yet.

Did tip Pavlik to win in one of the threads beforehand - look forward to watching a recording of the bout and will attempt to score it.
