Pavlik is a complete wardrobe of a fighter. I've seen filing cabinets with better turning circles than Plodder Pavlik. He was brutally exposed by a man old enough to be his father, and a blown-up Welterweight. What a disgrace, :rofl:rofl
That's a good point actually. I recall Loew after the Hopkins fight saying "Kelly won't ever be fighting above 160 again, Kelly is a middleweight."
This is old news. Pavlik said he wants to fight in November. Personally I think he should be looking at August. However, I also think that when a guy knocks out the undefeated, undisputed middlweight champ, and then declines to the point where he loses to a guy like Martinez, retirement might be a viable option.
I don't like to defend Lowe but if Pav. has those skeletons in his closet as rumored, Lowe is in a tough place. Maybe Lowe is being an enabler and a clean break is needed for that reason alone.
I think it is simply a 'making weight' issue. I've heard there is more to the story than has surfaced yet and the Vindy interviews indicate that weight has been an issue longer than they care to admit. He may need the summer to make sure the weight is 'on right' before continuing. Condition for a new weight class.
He did OK against Martinez and was up a point going into the 9th. I don't want to hear crap about Martinez taking 4 rounds off. He was getting tagged and out boxed. To see this just go back and watch Sergio in the corner between rounds and compare his demeanor to the Williams fight. He looked like a man was being beaten. He never had that look against Williams in the corner between rounds.
